National September Rates Down

I have been watching the August National Car thread for quite awhile as I have not been comfortable with the rental rates for September. Thanks to curlyjbs , I checked rates for September today and am reasonably pleased with what I reserved:

9/08 to 09/15 (1 week rental)
Emerald Club 5100725
Ent. Book Coupon NF15
Chevrolet Equinox = $183. including all taxes, fees, etc.

Of course last year, at the same time, I paid $110. for about the same type of rental.

Strangely enough, almost any of the contract ids provided by mousesavers.com gave the same base rate of $163. (then coupon lowered even more)

Hope to see rates come down more before trip, but at least I now have something booked that I can live with . . . if I have to.

I know . . . I checked your dates just knowing it would be lower for you. I'm so sorry. Actually, $183. doesn't thrill me, but it's alot better than I've been seeing. I keep hearing Magical Express has caused car rental rates to go lower . . . Not from what I've seen. I've been going to WDW every year for the last five and this is the highest I have ever seen the rates.

Just checked my dates for the end of November. I got $186 for 11/24-11/30/07, not great, but at least it's heading in the right direction! Guess I can cancel my Dollar ressie I previously had for $190. Best of all, we get to go the Emerald Isle and pick out what we want - we love using National!

Thanks for the info. I got a mid-size SUV for $227 with taxes and fees for 9/7-9/15, used Entertainment coupon ID & code. It's over $100 more than what I paid in August of '05 but I'm sure they will come down....I didn't book my reservation until July of that year.
