that is a good rate ....

if you try the same codes for a week rental it comes out at 130.15$

it seems if you go over the weekly rate by one day the base rate drops to 103 from 115.47 and another day costs 17$ for fullsize ( and full size is cheaper than mid size )

the best rate i can get using my EA is 115$ base rate for the same time ....unable to take advantage of the good rate above using EA number...

another angle to watch out for when booking cars....you can sometimes get a better rate not using your EA number

Lawgs - thanks for that idea - I'll have to keep trying that one as well. Right now without my Emerald Club it's $40 more for our trip. We actually need the car for 15 days since we are renting it to drive from Chicago to Orlando and back.

I'm an EA member. Could someone either post or pm me the EA code?

Thanks,
-Mark

Hi,
I believe what you need is on the national page under the specials tab.

Full size is usually Emerald Reserve not Aisle. and you are lucky, I just did your dates and the rate is 165.15 for your times.

Thank you!!! :cool1:

I checked early this morning and there was no change but after reading your post I tried again and my reservation went down another $10!!

Details:

National Emerald Aisle - Intermediate

August 25 am thru August 30 pm (6 days)

$117.70 Total (was $127.)

So thanks again!!

Do you get unlimited mileage? We did this in 2000 and we ended up paying for extra mileage and got socked hard.

  No luck for me yet. Currently, mid-size reserved for $163. total. With those codes, my rate went up $100. We are looking at 9/19 - 9/26 (8 days) But, these posts do give me hope that my rate will come down when it gets closer. Thanks for the updates. :)

rlduvall - I am going the same week you are, and our rates have not dropped either. I checked the rates for some fellow employees for the next week (training in Disney - not a bad gig), and the price has gone up since last time I checked. Hopefully, when September hits, the price will come down - at least a little. :)

thd contract id is 5007125 ( the one they assign when you join EA ), although we rarely use that one since it does not usually give discounts off the base rate

inspite of what disneyldjwr posted ...the rate for your dates has not changed that much:

September 4 11:30 am p/u Septermber 11 4:00pm d/o

1) Time & Distance ($104.54/Week) $104.54
(1) Extra - Time & Distance ($17.42/Day) $17.42
Discount Coupon Accepted ($20.00)
Contract ID 5003876
Inclusive Rate Items
Guaranteed Base Rate Included
Unlimited Miles Included

Subtotal $101.96

Taxes, Surcharges and Fees Concession Fee Recov Chrg 9.8 Pct $10.34
Tire/battery Fee .05/day $0.40
Florida Surcharge 2.00/day $16.00
License Recoupment Fee .39/day $3.12
Sales Tax (6.50%) $8.57
Subtotal $38.43

Calculate Estimated Total Estimated Total $140.39

thus the rate you got ....with the extra time aspect involved is still available to anyone as long as they do not book it through their "EA" login....and you are doing more than 7 days or maybe more ...

if you did not do it through the EA login, it will probably not even be Emerald Reserve, you might want to call National to see what they see on their computer as far as "place of pickup" eg.. counter or do you just go directly to the full size aisle

if you do check, please post back what they told you....thanks

have never run across this situation before since we always book using our EA login, your experience shows that there are other ways of playing around with National bookings.....on the internet

til then...

Thanks, lawgs

I joined EA over 7 years ago, and my "default" Contract I.D. is an old NJ state employee one, that doesn't do much good at all nowadays.

I emailed EA earlier today to see if they could make the EA my "default" I.D.

I may call to double check, but on my reservation under Inclusive Items its says: Unlimited Miles - Included. So I'm taking that as unlimited mileage.

Hmmmm - whenever I sign in under the Emerald Club, the contract ID I get is 5453204...could it be different depending on where you are?

Well, I just checked after reading your post and my EC # is different from you AND its different from my own DH...so I don't think it's location but maybe each person has their own EC# assigned to them??

Strange.

My EC#5602728
DH EC#5007125

I think it is where you signed up that gives you the code. Mine defaults to 6100330. As you know, you can always highlight it and enter a different code.

Just goes to show you what a couple of hours can do to a rate. I ran exactly what she stated and I gave you the total when it came up. I did not take the time to copy and paste the info, but, it is nice to see that the rates can fall.

Yes, maybe that's it. Don't know.

Yes, I always highlight the EC code and replace it with a different code since the EC code never has the best rates at least for me anyway.

Just thought it was interesting that my DH and I have different EC #'s. Never knew that before now.

Most, if not all, rentals in the Disney area are for unlimited miles. In the 15 years I have been doing rentals I have yet to see one without the unlimited mile feature and I have done literally hundreds.

I didn't even look at it that way - we are renting and driving from Chicago. I took it as OhMari did the same thing (driving to the world.) But when we have rented in Orlando (only have used National) I never had a problem with miles. I know when we looked at a couple of other companies, if we went out of state then we had to pay mileage...wonder if they do the same thing in FL.
