National - Rate Drop (now back up)

I just saw the post about Alamo's rates dropping, so I checked my rate with National. I rebooked my October rental, and am down to $122.xx for a week, n the Emerald Aisle. I used my free day coupon (from my EA account) and Contract ID 6600422 (Airtran) I believe there are a couple of other contract ID numbers that will give similar results.

Using the Airtran contract ID and coupon NU1978FJH will give you a full-sized car for $139.91 or a standard-sized car for $123.85

edited to add: looks like the rate is back up base rate jumped to $170.77 (before coupons)

I noticed that too and did the same thing. Just finished booking a new ressie with National and got a week using my Emerald Club on EA for a mid-size, but the $30.00 coupon would no longer work. I even tried just modifying my existing reservation and got an even higher $ figure. Anyway, by making a new ressie, my cost went down from 189.70 to 146.88. Going 10/31 to 11/7 early a.m both days. Hope this helps someone out there.

I checked mine yesterday and it had gone down around $21.00.
I got EA midsize for Sep 13-21 with cpn and CD code for $141 for 8 days tax inclusive.

While my August rate never dropped in the 3 months I had it, my October rate did drop. I had an mid-size SUV for $356, and switched it to EA for $256. I used the code 5760339 and the $20 coupon National sent me when their system was busy. It was the only coupon that would work. My free day would work, but it was less than $20. This is for a 13 day reservation. Oct. 14 AM to Oct. 26 PM.

Thank you!!!!! my rate for Dec 15-26 just dropped from $337.72 to $246.20!
I used the default contract ID for EA and the $30 off coupon. $91 is a huge drop. Plus, when I first booked a couple of months ago my rate was $388, so this is my second drop.

Dang! Good for you! I've found the EA contract ID to be a higher base than if I use the AAA contract ID. I've seen a number of people say they got a better rate with the EA id, but I'm not one of them.

I am renting at TPA though, so maybe there aren't any great bargains there yet.

Yep! I just redid my National this morning. Couldn't use the coupon but Midsize - EA 10/23-10/29 $146. My previous reservation was at $189. I booked with Dollar yesterday for about the same $140, but much prefer EA. Always pays to keep checking.

I tried the different codes and could'nt get it for any less, we have a compact for 6 days for $124.10 using the continental code 5007160 and the national $30 coupon, 14 more days till we leave so I'll keep checking. Linda

I just checked mine to after e-mail from National. Mine dropped 20.00. I used EC # only. It wouldn't let me use the $30.00 off coupon. I guess their at capacity for using coupon during my time frame. Even without I lowered my rate.

Thanks! That's a great base rate considering what I've been seeing. TPA definitely seems to be higher, but maybe we'll see a drop there soon.
