Right now I have a minivan reserved for 9/17-9/24 using ent coupon and contract id codes for $257.60. If anyone knows of any codes that will get it cheaper, pls let me know. I tried priceless contract id with ent coupon, but it was same rate.

Also, I found that my confirmation didn't require me to use a credit card. Is this typical? It says to show up at counter with this ressie conf#. Also, I see some of you use the emerald aisle thing. How would that benefit me? Do I want that? Can it be tied to my existing reservation? Or do I have to start all over?

Try mousesavers.com for codes. I used the AMEX code and it was much better than Priceless.

As for Emerald Aisle, I don't think you can use it with a van. They have something called Emerald Reserve, I think it's tied in with you CC and EA number so you don't have to go to the counter.

You shouldn't have to give a CC number for your reservation.

As to the coupon posted above, what is the coupon for? I have always been asked for coupons when I have used their code number.

We get a minivan through National every time. We do use Emerald Reserve. We are set up that they have our AMEx #. We pick our van & drive off. They bill AMEX when we return. More often than not it ends up lower $ than we had reserved at. Usually saves just a few dollars, but a dollar is a dollar.

Sorry, I can't help with the codes. We use DH corporate, but I think it is pretty close to one of the ones I checked thru mousesavers (maybe the AMex one). Good luck

Thanks. I don't have AMEX card so can't use that code. If I use the $10 off code instead of ent coupon, I lose $10 instead of gaining. This may be the cheapest I can get....just ckng.

you can use ent code on alamo? i thought it was specific to national?

Yes, that's how I made my reservation.
I first get a quote via southwest with ent code.
Then I updated to book from alamo directly with the ent. code on Sunday when I found a lower price from alamo.
Last night, the price is lowered again.
From the ent. book, I think I have to enter 3 codes, 1 for Corp ID, the second entry for 2 letters, then the coupon code (I typed this in my office and do not have the book next to me. '

BTW, I have also registered DH for quicksliver, hopefully the checkout will be faster. In fact, I may even consider pre-pay prior to our trip.

ok, now I don't technically have an ent book. I just saw the link to the ent coupon for national, so I printed off the coupon and used the code. Is that ok? Is there a link to an ent coupon for alamo? I'm afraid to try a code w/out an actual coupon to bring with me.

Hello-

I recently made minivan reservations with National.

Emerald Reserve is used for minivan rentals. You need to join the Emerald Club first and then can choose this service when making your reservation. Your credit card info is taken when you register. It allows you to make a confirmed reservation, bypass the counter and go directly to a row of minivans. You can choose any one of them and drive away. Your cc is automatically charged.

It usually costs $50 to join, but if you go through a travel site listed at MouseSavers, the fee is waived. I did it and it worked for me. You won't see the fee waiver message until the very end of registration.

I found all the details at the MouseSavers site. Check out the section on Transportation, then Rental Car Discounts and you'll see lots of info on National, including a link to the travel company to join the Emerald Club for free.

:upsidedow With two kids and too much luggage, this service is going to help us a lot!

I was just reading about the Emerald reserve and it said if you book an intermediate car you go right to the row of cars and you may even get to choose a full size car which is better than an intermediate.

Has anyone done this before when booking a full size car? Can you chose what you want or even get a grade higher?

I am wondering if I should take a chance on booking just an intermediate and when I get there hope I can get a higher grade since that is what it said on mousesavers.

Another ? I have is when I went thru Budget last year I went right to the kiosk desk where the cars were and gave my paper work to the guy from my online reservation and he gave me the keys to the car......does National do that too or do you go dorectly to the car itself?

When you booked an intermediate, you do not use Emerald reserve. You use Emerald Aisle. Emerald Reserve is for anything above intermediate. I have only use Emerald Reserve as DH always need a SUV or a minivan.
If you use Emerald Aisle, you can pick the car you can find in Aisle, but most of the recommendation I read is that you should use Emerald Reserve if you have specific need for a larger car, as there is no guarantee.

There was another thread from people reporting what they see in Emerald Aisle lately, you have to decide yourself. When I use Emerald Reserve, I just to to pick a car, the keys are in the car and give my paper work at the gate.

With the exception of once in Las Vegas, I always give the attendant the coupon. I think I saw somewhere that there was a link to a coupon for national, not sure whether it was ent or from mousesavers, I suspected that link was good.

I am getting confused (sorry) ...I haven't booked anything yet but if I do depending on the car I book for will determine if I get Emerald Reserve or Emerald Aisle? The card I signed up for doesn't state either so I am confused.

Also one more quick question, if I log onto Emerald club on their site...and do a quick reservation, I noticed it automatically puts in a contract code (I am assuming it's the Emrald club code) but if I take it out to put in the price and Ent. codes will that mess everything up? Or should I not go thru the Emerald club part to book my reservation?

We went to priceline and got a minivan from National for 197.00 for Sept. 10-17.

Correct. It should show up Emerald Aisle by default, but if you try to reserve a minivan, you will be asked to change to Emerald Reserve.

Yes, you can (and should) change the contract code, there were a few in mousesavers. I noticed that which code is better depends on the model of car you rent. You can also add the ent. code, I think in one of my previous rentals, I even added one of the National discount code (say EWEB), hence stacking a total of 3 codes. I think mousesavers.com may have a section to describe the various tricks :)

Have Fun.

Thanks for the description of emerald reserve. I have some more questions though. Since i didn't do ER and just booked a minivan w/out a CC, but have a confirmation #, does this mean I am or am not guaranteed a minivan? I'd sure hate to show up and have them tell me they are all gone. Do I have to book through ER to be guaranteed?

As long as you have the confirmation number, you should be okay.

Emerald Reserve is for members of the Emerald Club.
Except you specifically do not want to give the CC info, but why not join the Emerald Club using the mousesavers.com link?
It is "free" http://www.mousesavers.com/national.html
