National Lampoons Aussie Vacation - 12/12/16 to 25/1/17 Universal - 40+ Days at Disney World

Had to experience Christmas at Disney.
Even though it was crazy hehe it was worth it.

Thanks we are snap happy people.
Santa got India a camera and she is really good so I am sure a few of hers will pop up here too.

DAY 14 - 25TH DECEMBER : MERRY CHRISTMAS ANIMAL KINGDOM

233_zpsm7j9h07z.jpg

Someone was on the nice list and it wasn't me :(. Santa came to Pop Century with some goodies, mostly for India. A new camera, woo , now she could snap away with her own little camera. I will post a few of her pics , she takes very good pictures for a 7 yr old.

With our little morning Christmas cheer done, we had to get going. Today was Animal Kingdom Day, and it was Christmas, oh yeh. The first bus was about to leave Pop so we got cooking pronto. Not many people were up so the bus ride was fairly empty.
I was feeling the Christmas Cheer inside me, ho ho ho.

20161225_072412_zpshwbeavv2.jpg

The tree outside the security screening area looked pretty out of place, probably could have put it in a better spot. Crowds were pretty low this early in the morning so once again very quick through security. Throughout the whole trip Bec and I were pretty much randomly selected every time to go through the detector. By the end we just kept walking over to it, but in no way did we feel picked on etc, it's a job and part of the process, the more you just go with it the quicker and more painless it becomes.

20161225_075320_zpsu3udziu9.jpg

The mad rush was on. This reminded me of California Adventure Park, to which we named it the Radiator Springs Shuffle. The Park opens and people are all going one way, to Cars Land. This was pretty much the same, and fun to watch. You could hear CM saying walk please, and some of these people could have been Olympic Walkers, they were that quick.
So we joined in on the shuffle, for about 5 meters , then back to a slow walk. It was pretty warm and it was only 8am. The Shuffle train took a right turn at the Tree Of Life.... Hi Tree of Life.... Bye Tree of Life.....
While some continued the Shuffle Straight ahead we opted to go right over the bridge into the back of Dino Land...... this was a little quicker for us to get to our destination.

20161225_0815390_zpssaonijbr.jpg

Expedition Everest.
This was one all of us were hanging to ride, and we walked straight on and into the front row. Well India and I were in the front and Bec behind. And off we went. A nice pace up to the broken track before going backwards.
Now this is where it all went a bit wrong. We went back and into the dark, and it was a strange feeling going back with that sharp turn. I thought we were going upside down for a Minute. When it finally came to a halt for the look at the Yetti and the drop ahead of us India was not looking well. She did not like it at all. The rest of the ride was holding on to her keeping her as happy as i could letting her know it was nearly over.
She powered on and enjoyed the last section but I think this one was a bit too much for her. Even i was not feeling the best. Mission Accomplished though hahaha.

20161225_084239_zpsq11t5msc.jpg

We headed back towards Dino Land but nothing was open as yet. So back to the Tree Of Life we had rudely walked part with our Shuffle group.

P1000532_zpszpk3ar85.jpg

And we got sidetracked again for a quick look at Pandora. It was coming along very nicely and you could see the floating rocks. Looks like we will have to return for this one.
Ok what were we doing again, ah yes ok lets get to the TREE.

This thing was amazing to look at. All the animals carved into the tree were fantastic. Walking under it felt like being Flik in A Bugs Life, it was that big. Lots of happy snaps taken and about 100 different photos of the Tree were taken, hahaha.
All this Tree looking was giving me a sore neck and our first Fastpass+ was about to open up for us.
Time for a quick drink before we continued on.

So moving right along it was off time for some Safari action.

P1000611_zps0j0ef88u.jpg

I wont bore people with all the animal pictures and Im sure we have all seen animals before. The 3 Rhino were special. They got very close to the vehicle, i think they like happy snaps too. But probably just on the move for some shade. For an open range kind of park it wasn't that impressive to be honest, we didn't see many animals so half way through it kinda got a little boring.

P1000625_zpsp2ff3xmp.jpg

After the little Trek India had Ice Cream on the brain. So a breakfast ice cream it is. It was pretty darn good and refreshing, plus she was a happy little camper. We did a little more exploring looking in shops and just taking in the beautiful park, and forgetting it was Christmas Day and we were in another country at Disney World. Nah how could we forget that, this was awesome. I felt like a local American sometimes. I was wearing my Raider shirt and cap. Many times throughout the day I had people yelling out or coming up and saying, "oh man you guys were robbed" "good season" , or how i thought the team would do now that their Quarterback Carr was out with an Injury. When I replied you could tell they knew i wasn't from around here.

Our lunch reservation at Tusker House was almost ready. This was our Christmas Lunch and meet with some Characters.
20161225_135852_zpsw0xmrcll.jpg

20161225_140417_zpsw3ze7sek.jpg

The food was awesome, and all you can eat. A few rounds was had by all. Plenty of characters to see, even though they were pretty quick, it was understandable as it was pretty packed inside. This was the first and only place we did not tip the waiter. Being self service pretty much from start to finish.
The table waiter brought our drinks and that was it, not once came to see if everything was ok or needed refills. When he knew we were about to leave his attempt at small talk was pretty average. Food and front of house service awesome.... but this guy was sorry to say just terrible. So no tip, sorry, a bit of Bah Humbug in there haha.

Our bellies were full from the delicious Christmas feast. It was time for a little rest in some shade somewhere, which gave us time to sit down and appreciate where we were again. Such a great day we were having with beautiful weather again, oh if only we could move here :(

We had another fastpass coming up, which was to Meet Mickey and Minnie at the Character outpost.
wdw2016360632755164_7903811350_dsnyRes-base_dsnyLoc-reg_zpsakyjiyat.jpg

wdw2016360632755145_7903813194_dsnyRes-base_dsnyLoc-reg_zpsmqwjdtcm.jpg

They looked so cool together, and they were both in a playful mood which made for some great snaps and some funny video moments. Minnie was taking a fancy to Becs BB8 backpack, and was sad to hear we go it in Australia and it is not sold in the parks. It is available at Hot Topic though which is at Florida Mall.

It was time to say Merry Christmas to the lovely couple, and let them get back to meeting all the other people.
And for us our day was coming to an end. Our feet were sore , there was a fair bit of walking done today. It was time to say goodbye to the Animal Kingdom and head back for an afternoon Christmas nap, which turned into lights out for the rest of the night pretty much.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Uhhh! Poor kiddo! Could it have been the lack of brekkie? Sometimes an empty stomach does it to me... but that backwards part (and being in the dark) messes with my equilibrium, so if you aren't prepared for it, it really does mess you up.

And we got sidetracked again for a quick look at Pandora. It was coming along very nicely and you could see the floating rocks. Looks like we will have to return for this one.

It looks like it will be pretty fantastic. Not a fan of the movie, but I'm intrigued by the addition to AK.

Love this photo! Did you guys plan on the b&w shirts? hahah!

The 3 Rhino were special. They got very close to the vehicle, i think they like happy snaps too. But probably just on the move for some shade. For an open range kind of park it wasn't that impressive to be honest, we didn't see many animals so half way through it kinda got a little boring.

I think it really depends on the time of the day. We didn't get any animals as close as the rhinos, but first thing in the morning they were all definitely out and about. I've heard at sunset they are roaming around, too.

This made me laugh! If I see anyone wearing an Aussie shirt I immediately talk to them, and usually regret my decision because not many self-respecting Aussies wear touristy shirts in Australia. They are normally people who had friends that went to Australia, but didn't actually go themselves. But, I love that people were talking to you!

Another great photo!

What a great Christmas, really!

Haha yes i definitely think it was the lack of food that made us woozy on Everest. Still a pretty great ride.

The plan was for some ugly Christmas sweaters but that was impossible in this awesome weather.

We did have better Safari rides later on.

It was definitely the best Christmas we had ever had.
:)

DAY 15 - 26TH DECEMBER - HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

20161226_121224_zpss1nggfor.jpg

There is nothing better waking up and realising you are still at Disney World and are not even half way through your holiday. How can we follow up Christmas Day, which was still imprinted in the memory banks. Today was supposed to be another day off, but by early morning we kinda looked at each other and thought hey we are Annual Pass Holders, we can come and go as we please. We had done 3 of the parks already and the one we were really looking forward to was Hollywood Studios. It was all about the STAR WARS, and we are Star Wars crazy.
It was a humid overcast day, and was most likely to rain at some point. We hopped on the Pop Bus and arrived just after lunch to check out the park and get a feel for it. There was no real agenda today, just a casual walk around to soak it all up.

20161226_123323_zpsmnrz4yuh.jpg

It was not that crowded, so far the crowd size had been no problems. After taking this picture we went straight into the shop on the right to see what Star Wars goodies could be found. Plenty of good things for the girls but the guys was a bit of a let down. Pretty average clothing, and most of it was for Rogue One, which we had not seen yet , and I did not want to buy things in case the movie was bad. (Turns out we did see it and did not like it at all.)

P1000643_zpsx7xjfkld.jpg

We headed back towards the main stage in front of the Chinese Theatre. One of the Star Wars shows was on. We had a quick glimpse but we were holding out on this one. We were waiting for the Guided Tour to start selling tickets and would see it all then. India wanted to watch the show but we explained we would have a better view on the tour and she understood and was excited about the tour.
Onward's and to the left we headed down past Jedi Training and off for a quick look in Tatooine Traders. Oh so much goodies to look at. Uh Oh i thought, we are in trouble, my little child brain saying oh i want that and that and oh how are we going to get this all home. Hmmmmm lets get out of here to stop the impulse buying.
So let's head over to Launch Bay for more impulse buying haha.
20161226_125853_zpsir3qcqnq.jpg

So we entered a line which we thought was Launch Bay but turns out it was for the Star Wars Theatre show. Woops lets walk out of this one, so back through the line. Noticed this piece of gold walking out. The Revenge of the Jedi poster. Nerd out time...... Yes it was originally called Revenge of the Jedi, posters and a movie trailer was made with this title. A little later George thought hang on, revenge is not in a Jedi's vocabulary so better change it ... to Return.
End of nerd.... sorry.

So we finally walked into Launch Bay, and the knees went weak and my eyes did not know where to look. Where do I look, what oh dear take a breath.
P1000650.MP4_snapshot_00.01_2017.04.01_17.47.54_zpsn3zitpes.jpg

Hmmm yes, taking mental notes in my brain. Oversized figure, check..... come back for it. Oh dear how will i get it home. Ahh worry about it later.
They alot of things we already had back home, then we found the name tags you could purchase, and well hell yes we want 3 please.
Select your tag design and your name, which can be written in the Star Wars Language.
Oh this was awesome, a big man child in heaven. We were all in heaven.

P1000652.MP4_snapshot_00.48_2017.04.01_17.49.47_zpshaahwtgd.jpg

With our tags done it was time to attach them to our bags and tops. Once again we were asked where we got our bags from and once again I was sad to tell them sorry you cant get the stormtrooper bag here, that was from back home in Australia.
Off we went back against the crowd to explore more of Launch Bay, from the Art work to the props etc. Then more magic was found with the little Cantina, with a few Jawa walking around.

They were getting mobbed the poor little fellas. We stood back and looked around a little bit more. About to walk off all of a sudden a Jawa started to approach us at light speed. I quickly shouted out Utinni, and the response was gold.

P1000654.MP4_snapshot_00.38_2017.04.01_17.50.46_zpshxv0x4k4.jpg

The little fella scared India a bit, was very funny. Then the fun began. India took a few pics and had lots of hugs. We had nothing to trade but said we would be back again with some goodies. It was then the Jawa was more interested in something else hanging off the back of Bec. She turned around and off with the bag the Jawa went. He had taken her BB8 backpack to show the other Jawa and then finally came back.

P1000657.MP4_snapshot_00.02_2017.04.01_17.52.08_zpsiepg0ujc.jpg

There were lots of laughs, and he didn't want to give it back. I think he held on to it for a good 5 minutes. Seeing as he liked the bag so much I showed him my Stormtrooper backpack, and this next pic was the response.
P1000655544_zpstxa9fvb5.jpg

He ducked down with fear and was shaking his head. Wooops I forgot they did not like The Empire. This was a great character experience that was pretty random and unplanned. A good 10 minutes had gone and he was still interacting with us.
Even when we made our way to check out the bar, guess who showed up about 1 minute later.

P1000657.MP4_snapshot_01.30_2017.04.01_17.53.03_zps8snvguyn.jpg

Yes back again to entertain us once more. I asked do you come here often, nice place. Plenty of nods and hugs again for everyone. Truly what a great day this was turning out to be. It was time to say goodbye but we knew we were coming back here many more times.
P1000659.MP4_snapshot_00.07_2017.04.01_17.54.27_zpsqnyoag2q.jpg

All the time we had spent in Launch Bay we had missed the rain. It was a little wet outside but still very warm. We made our way down towards Tower of Terror, along the way we had to of course pick up the Tie Fighter Popcorn Bucket, mmmmm popcorn goodness in a TIE FIGHTER, AWESOME.
After a quick look around down this end of the park it started to get a little more wet.

20161226_140923_zpsmcqf7cpb.jpg

20161226_140931_zpsg2wzw4du.jpg

Nothing a good old cheap Poncho can fix. We had brought along about 20 from home and this was the first time on the trip they had came out. Well it was only India as it wasn't raining that hard but it didn't look like it was going to stop.
The Tower of Terror looked pretty cool, although yes this was a ride Daddy was not going on. Bec would be riding this Solo another day. For now we had spent a fair bit of time looking around. Some great little shops in Hollywood Studios but we will get to that later. Back to the bus stop in the rain for the short trip back to Pop Century.

20161226_182612_zps47f0w2bn.jpg

The Star Wars Fireworks could be seen from Pop Century every night. It was hard to not look at it all the time as we Bec and I didn't want to spoil the show for when we saw it. Made for some great pictures though. Nothing better than finishing the day off with some magical colour in the sky.

:)

I am enjoying following along. Looks like you are having a great trip. So many smiles!
Thanks for following along. We had a great trip indeed, still have the post trip blues, but writing this report is helping remember the great times. Still a fair way to go so better keep writing before i forget it all.
Coming out of lurkdom to say I'm following along - what an amazing vacation :flower1:
Thanks , hope you enjoy the rest of the trip report.

DAY 16 - 27TH DECEMBER : RANDOM TRIP TO EPCOT

20161227_130252_zpsrdx4tqur.jpg

Such and awesome sight Spaceship Earth. Hello again Epcot.

Once again we had no plans again for today. It was to be another rest day, but after not having to twist anyone's arm, it was off to Epcot again. No plans or fastpass needed, we were going to just wing it again and see where the day took us. This attitude saved us many times throughout the trip and made everything more enjoyable. It's the little things that can make the day awesome.

Off to the bus line at Pop we went. Lines were much bigger, the Christmas break crowd was in, but it was still nothing crazy. Bus's were not on time once again and had a fairly long delay. In a nuttshell the Disney transport does suck pretty bad, and a few people were looking pretty grumpy. Not us though, we powered on and went with the flow.

An hour later we were at Epcot, through the random selection again no problems, and with a tap of the Magic band the light was green and we were good to go. Taking a moment again to marvel at Spaceship Earth, such a glorious sight to see.

Heading towards World Showcase again to see what was happening.

P1000663_zpshsdhltli.jpg

A bit of country rock was going on at the Mill Stage in Canada. Lot's of Christmas songs and other groove's entertaining the crowd bringing that Christmas Spirit still. Being here still felt like everyday was Christmas, yipee. It was nice to listen to some live tunes, but the sun was starting to burn a hole in my hat and getting very hot so it was time to roll on.

P1000667.MP4_snapshot_00.03_2017.04.02_15.34.14_zpsea7cutxt.jpg

Morocco was our next stop as we had not looked in here as yet. Nothing too exciting going on but some nice pictures taken. Bellies were getting a little rumble going on so a quick snack to feed the hunger pains was needed. Off to Japan again to mosey around and get a drink and snack.

P1000668_zpspnnjnnvf.jpg

20161227_134804_zpsxpc9ev1c.jpg

India and I were checking out the Fish and surrounding area's. The Japanese Christmas Story was starting so we found a spot to watch the show.
We saw a few of the Christmas Stories from different countries, and they were pretty interesting. I was surprised even India was enjoying sitting down and listening to how other countries celebrated Christmas.

20161227_134943_zpsg3elmout.jpg

Onward's we marched checking out more countries along the way. Japan was a favourite for sure and we found ourselves going back again and again.
A stop in Club Cool was needed. I love this place, you can do Epcot without ever having to buy a drink, just Club Cool it and stay away from the Beverly. Although I'm sure everyone has tried it. Melon frosty was always the one to go for, and was always the one they would run out of some days.

I quickly set up a fastpass for Spaceship Earth before we left again. We were a little tired from walking so much, but thankful again to our Annual Passes for being able to just come on in and hang out in Epcot for a little while.

The legs were rested after Spaceship Earth and we were off again to catch the bus back to Pop. No lines or crowds and the wait was extremely long for the bus to arrive.

Another day down, with tomorrow going to be a rest day for sure. The legs needed a break.

:)

Ahh, JAPAN! I think that may be one of my top countries to visit. I love everything about it!

And how cool is that you guys could just waltz into a park... just for the fun of it, without a plan. I'm so jealous!

Yes Japan rocks. So well done and one of the bigger sized countries.

It was good to just be able to get up and go to any park without a plan. Even on days we had plans we kept changing and had no problems getting premium fastpasses.

Japan was the country I was most looking forward to seeing at Epcot, and it did not disappoint. It is a country we would like to visit someday as a family. For now I am content with seeing Epcot's version.

Everything about Japan is lovely.

We were so lucky that we purchased the annual passes. Not only did we save many thousands of dollars on tickets doing it that way... it was wonderful for just visiting like the locals do.
It also saved us many more dollars with all our souvenir shopping and all the other perks you get with it. Was worth every cent.

DAY 17 - 28TH DECEMBER : FLORIDA MALL

thinkgeek-storefront-orlando-florida.jpg

With our feet feeling a little sore it was going to be a park free day. There were a few stores that Bec and I were keen to go check out as we don't have them back in Australia. So it was off to Florida Mall which was a fair way away from Pop Century. We used Uber again and went to Walmart again quickly, then caught another Uber to Florida Mall. Our driver from Walmart to Florida Mall was awesome, and a good chat was had and a few tips passed on to us.

Arriving at Florida mall we entered in and already found the shop we were looking for. Think Geek. We have Zing back home which is owned by Ebgames which is ThinkGeek and Gamestop in the US. ThinkGeek has a much better selection of goodies though than what we get. Oh dear so many goodies, Star Wars, Game Of Thrones, and Walking Dead. Where do we look, brain overload again, toys toys toys. Our whole family is Collector crazy, our house has Toys everywhere, Pop Vinyls, Star Wars merchandise and replica's.

Funny enough we walked out empty handed and continued to look around. The little shops in the middle of the walking area's where becoming annoying, everytime you walked passed, someone shouting, "You want to try this hair brush" " New Shoes, you need new shoes", it just went on and on. Leave us alone please, we got used to just walking past and ignoring them.

Then we found the next store, Hot Topic. This was another Pop Culture store, with many clothing Items as well. There was some gold in here, and a few items we ordered as it was not in stock. From Stranger Things to Baseball Star Wars Tops, there were some great pick ups and very cheap prices. It was a pretty small shop, and unorganised, but this was due to the store moving to another spot in the mall. Lots of good Disney Tops that you could not get in the parks.

We had loaded up with a fair bit of shopping, but did not go too crazy as we would return again later to pick up our ordered items and look around some more.

Another Uber was ordered and back to Pop Century we went. On the way back just passing under the Disney World Sign the traffic had pretty much come to a stop up ahead, and for some reason our driver just kept going. All of a sudden she realised traffic had stopped and locked up the brakes and pulled off the road to miss the car in front.

Sheesh.......this was getting a bit crazy.... Our driver apologised and got us to Pop. Bec and I later discussed the idea of Hiring a car, as i would rather be the cause of having an accident than someone else with our child in the car. Add to the fact that Disney Transport is terrible it looked like it may be a good idea.

The day was over and we were well rested, I wonder what tomorrow was going to bring us.
:)

I love ThinkGeek. Their Christmas sales online are the best! File that away for this year.

And that is so scary about the almost-crash! Did you guys get a rental?

LOVE ThinkGeek and Hot Topic, especially their Harry Potter stuff! My DD bought one of ThinkGeek's "Feisty Pets" for her birthday, and it is hilarious!

Hot Topic just recently came to Canada (or at least recently to my local mall!), love that place!

Eeek, scary about the Uber driver - hello...pay attention!! Glad nothing bad happened!
