Does it matter if your son or daughter makes it into the National Honor Society?

Guess it doesn't really..........but it sure looks good on those transcripts.

"Does it matter" is a pretty broad question.

To whom? Why? For what purpose?

It is one of the many considerations that go into scholarship and college acceptance decisions.

It does look good on college applications (and job applications - for that matter).

It can lead to additional opportunities.

It didn't matter to me but I was happy that two of them made it......it REALLY mattered to them! My middle DS just got his acceptance letter this week!!

On a personal note, I was extremely happy when I made national Honor Society. I know that my family was proud of my accomplishment. We had a candle ceremony and when they called my name to lite my candle I was beaming.

So in answer to your question, yes it did matter to me personally.

Funny that this should come up--I just made scrapbooks of my childhood for both my grown children and the picture of my ceremony was one memory I included in the books! It did matter--it was a wonderful night!

I think it's a wonderful thing to have on a transcript/resume. I felt very honored when I was inducted. I certainly don't think it would keep a student from getting into a particular college if they were not in NHS though.
