Hi everyone! On the advice of another thread I went ahead and signed up for the Quick Rent thing with National. We will be going with our two boys and our 6 year old is autistic and we thought this would be WAY easier than having one of us stay in line. It was only $5 more than our Alamo rate. My question is this: Are there any hidden charges that they are going to add on once we get there that are above and beyond what my reservation says? I need to make sure to have enough on my Mastercard for when we get there since I am assuming they will charge us when we pick up the car! Thanks!

I rented with National 1 1/2 years ago, and didn't notice any change in fees from my estimate that I printed (and it was a quick rent also). Anyone use National recently that can respond?

P.S., we'll be taking our soon to be 6 year old autistic son to WDW in May. Also renting a car via quick rent for the same reason! :D

Thanks! I know when we rent with Alamo it is always exactly what is printed bt we have never rented with national. Also, I noticed that Alamo charged us a
Concession Fee Recov Chrg 9.8 % $9.54 which is not listed on the national reservation. I wonder if that is just an Alamo charge?? I just don't like suprises!
Nik's mom- have you ever been to WDW with your son before? I am a little nervous!!

If you have these on your printed/emailed paperwork, that is all there should be:
CONCESSION FEE RECOV CHRG 9.8 PCT
FL SCHRG/TIRE&BAT FEE 2.05 USD/DY
LICENSE RECOUPMENT FEE .49 USD/DY
STATE TAX (6.50%)
My last rental in December was right on the money.

My National ressie does not list :

CONCESSION FEE RECOV CHRG 9.8 PCT
Is it common not to list it? Is it something National does charge after the fact or do they work it into the price. I can't imagine they let you get there and then say," Oops sorry it is an extra $10!"

Ok, here is what National's page says:
Concession Recoupment Fee

* Some locations charge a percentage based Concession Recoupment Fee which will appear, in addition to rental charges, on the Estimate Bill of Internet reservations (the page prior entering name and e-mail information).

So if mine does not list it does that mean it won't be charged?

If you use the priceless contract code, for some reason it does not charge the 9.8% concession fee. I used it twice last year and they did not charge it.

My total has always matched the bottom line number on the reservation except once. The one time it dropped a discount figure. I went into the counter after the return and they fixed it.

DebbieB-
Thanks so much. I did use the priceless code. So I won't be charged that then, even on arrival? That is great! So I only should really worry about what the price on my confirmations says and nothing else then? The other wierd thing is that my email confirmation says quickrent at the top of us and to bypass the counter, blah blah blah, but then it actually gave us the $20 entertainment discount. Now I had entered a coupon from the link above and it said that quickrent could not be used with a coupon so I went back and changed it, but on my email ressie it applies a $20 entertainment promotion in addition to the priceless discount. So is that right or should we count on getting there and paying the extra $20?

Hi Carrieberry,
Yes, my DS has been to WDW 2 times, The first time, he did not show autistic symptoms (he wasn't 2 years old yet). The second trip, he definitely had autistic signs. Here's my suggestions: make sure to get the GAC. You may not need it, but better safe than sorry. Rent or bring a stroller if you think your child will need a "safe" place to hide in to avoid crowds. The GAC will allow you to use the stroller as a wheelchair, so you can take it in lines for the rides. Make sure you take breaks during the day to avoid melt downs. And bring any comfort items (favorite blanket, etc) that your child usually must have at home.
And have a great time! Make sure to leave a post on DisAbilities board when you return! I'd love to hear how your trip went. :D

By the way, I see you are in Arizona and will have a long flight like we will (from Southern California). If your child likes movies, try to bring a portable DVD player on the plane, or a game boy. Really, anything that will keep them occupied on that long plane ride!
Just curious, what hotel are you staying at?

Nik's mom-

Wow, your son must be very similar to my son! All of your tips are the exact things I said "we have to do". We always get the GAC when we go to DL so we know that is a must! We will be taking his big jogging stroller (it is higher off theground so his feet don't drag) his blankie for sure! Also he is obsessed with Mickey and has this big Micey that is so GROSS but we will have to take it chewed off nose and all! I have a laptop to play DVD's on the nice big 12" screen though he would rather wathc the screensaver!! It is so nice to hear about others and their special children that go and have good trips to WDW. This will be our 8 year olds 3rd trip and me and DH 5th trip but our DS 6 1st trip. We are from Orange County so our family is still there and we go to DL about 3 times a year and he always does SO unbelievably well and makes huge strides when we are there. We will be at POFQ the first 2 nights and then to a 1 bedroom at OKW for the next 5 nights. I thought that would be a good place to spread out because if I have to sleep in the same room as the boys for the entire trip I might FREAK OUT!! :earseek:

The AMEX code beats Priceless for me most of the time. Sign up for the free Emerald Club, via instructions on mousesavers, and your spouse can drive free!

Oh, you must report your trip when you return. We will be staying at POFQ in May! I'd love to hear how you liked it! Boy, we have a lot in common! We have annual passes to DL, so DS is a Disney veteran just like your son! :cool1: Have a great trip! :D

Carrieberry,
I'll be there at the same time! Just me and my daughters, hubby has to work. I'm flying in on Southwest (from Baltimore though) next Friday at 7:00 pm and doing the National Emerald Aisle thing for the 1st time too, and staying at POFQ! It's a long weekend trip (kids are off school here on the 24th) to celebrate my dd's 11th bday.
BTW- have you been rechecking your National rates? Mine have gone down 3 or 4 times since I made the ressie! You can cancel and rebook, no problem.
Sending you pixie dust for a magical trip! :wizard:

I would just stop at the counter. Unless the line is huge, it's worth it to save $20.

Carrieberry, if you join the Emerald Club you will be able to use the Emerald Aisle and give them your coupon when you exit the lot with the car. It should save you from having to wait in line.
