Daughter is renting a car this weekend from National in Indiana. Do they put a hold on your credit card for the amount of the rental when you rent the car?

I haven't used National in awhile and didn't know what the policy was. Thank you.

I did notice one time while I was at WDW when I checked my account online that there was a pending charge on my card for the amount of the rental.

It looks like they do place a hold based on this statement from their FAQ (emphasis mine):

Renter must present an acceptable credit card, with available credit, in their own name, at the time of rental.

They also allow debit cards at rental time, but only in conjunction with a round-trip ticket. I'd avoid debit cards (as I always would for travel expenses).

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. There has not been any consistancy with my rentals and I'm an EC member (just made executive level)

In October, I made the ressie 45 days out and had no CC hold, made an emergency trip to Orlando Nov 1st (ressie the same day), National placed a hold on the card.

I would assume (I know it's bad to assume) that they will, just to be safe.
