This will be the first time I've flown in 6 years and the first time renting from National's EA. I'm familiar after reading the posts with where to go and what to do when we arrive but unfamiliar with the return. We are traveling with a toddler and am wondering when we return to the airport what we do. Do they have skycaps at the car rental return to leave your luggage with? Where do you return your rental vehicle at the airport? Thanks for any help.

Gail H. is on vacation but I will attempt to answer your question. Why not do curbside check in with your luggage before you return your car? It is clearly marked where to go to return your car at the airport. Just follow the signs and you won't have any problems.

How do you know he needs to go to terminal A? He didn't meniton which airline he would be taking.

Go to the terminal for your airline. There will be a National car return area for you there.

safetymom makes a good point... Check your luggage at curbside before you turn your car in.

We use National every time we go and every time we return the car, there have been sky caps roaming around the return area asking if we need help. If you do not want to do the curb side check in, they should be around. Speaking of curb side, I am not sure you will be able to unless you stick around with your ID as the bags get inspected.

to find a skycap unless you have a driver with the car. There are tow trucks standing by and unattending cars are quickly towed.

We used USAirways curbside check before returning the car in May with no problem. We parked right in front of the skycap station and they came to us.

DebbieB, that is what we do also. USAirways is great with curbside check in.

It is not wise at any airport to leave the car at the curb and walk inside.

We have rented from National a number of times and I do not recall seeing skycaps there at the return, but I wasn't really looking for one. We do as others here have suggested. We pull up to where the skycaps are for our airline and check the bags right there. I never leave the side of the car. As others have suggested do not walk away from the car and leave it unattended. The sky caps tend to come right up to the car and check your bags right there and give me my boarding passes. I send my wife and the kids inside and have them sit down right inside the doors and then return the car and go up to where I left the family and off we go. You could always call National and ask them if they have skycaps available in the return area if that is something you would prefer to do.

They also have carts in the garage. Alot of times people abandon them in the car pickup area or you can go to the cart machine for $3.

Thanks for all the replies - you all have been most helpful. I think we'll do curbside checkin (without leaving the car, of course) and then return the car. We're flying southwest and I like to get an "A" boarding pass so we don't feel guilty when we preboard with our 2 year old.
