I've been researching car rentals week of 4/10 - 4/18 and using many discount codes to do so, predominantly those in the 2004 Entertainment Book. I'm looking for a standard SUV (or a minivan but using the SUV for cost comparison) and the difference is overwhelming.
National quote is 285.06, next lowest is Budget at 579.00, with Alamo the highest at 666.00. Avis is low 600's and Hertz is telling me they don't have an standard SUVs for these dates - just the Ford Escape.
Why is National so low relatively speaking? I'm going to go ahead and reserve but is there something I'm missing? Are National cars in as good repair as other major chains? Is the pickup on site or at least does it have a shuttle to an offsite location. The disparity in pricing leaves me somewhat skeptical so I want to make sure I don't have any reason to be.
