National Car rental is killing me

I was just checking prices for my rental car in early Dec and I see that they are having a special from early April to May 31 for one way out of FL rentals.
I hadn't planned a trip in May but that might just give me a chance to see Flower and Garden next summer.
If I can find an inexpensive one way flight it will cost me $109 to rent a car fot 6 days in FL and a 2 day trip home to CT plus cash for gas.

May is typically a slow month when deals in Orlando are readily available.

Gas will cost you about $175 and don't forget about tolls. It might be cheaper to fly both ways. One way fares are often $20 higher than round trip fares.

Car rental will likely go down as May approaches. One way car rental deals are often only about $10/day plus taxes but that time of year, getting a rental for the entire stay in Orlando should be less than $15/day plus taxes for a week. I tend to get the best rates less than one week out, so I keep checking and modifying the reservation up until the day before I travel.

Timeshares are often available for rent on the cheap in Many through Skyauction. A week's lodging should only be about $250 or so.

We like traveling to Orlando in May since it is hot enough to really enjoy the water parks and good, budget deals are easy to find. We also just love the Flower and Garden Festival. The best events are weekends only so keep this in mind when picking days to travel.
