I have a ressie w/ National for a minivan for our upcoming December vacation. I am not an EA member (don't travel enough to warrant $50 fee) so I just checked the rates and found the lowest rate around with an Entertainment coupon (which has a contract ID and coupon number).

However, I see that several people seem to have used the Priceless contract ID along with the entertainment coupon and I can't figure out how to do that. I could save approx. $20 more if the Priceless code were added but can't figure out how since the entertainment coupon already has a contract ID with it.

Can anyone advise me how to do this? Also, has anyone tried to get the EA membership free through the Turner Travel link on mousesavers and not been charged the $50 fee? I'd love to be able to bypass the counter (travelling with 2 kids, youngest is 2.5) and go straight to the car. Would use Quickrent but mousesavers says you can't use a coupon with it.

Any advise from the experts would be appreciated.

You can use any contract ID with the coupon. National lets you do it. Just put the priceless code in and it works. I have used the Turner link to get my EC membership and not been charged. Do that first and you should get your number right away, so you can make your ressie with it.

I'll try it again and see if it drops the price. Also, I'll try the Turner link and join and hopefully, I won't get charged. If I do, can I cancel the membership and have the amount credited back?

I've also read some of the threads about using the EA. If I understand correctly, if I reserve a specific type of car, I can just walk to the aisle that holds those kinds of cars (in my case a minivan) and pick whichever one I like. Then I proceed to the gate and hand the guard my coupon and that's it?

Thanks again.

That is just about it in a nutshell. That is why I love National's system. It is great to bypass the counter and just go out and pick out the car you want. You will hand the guard your coupon as well as your driver's licence and I think credit card as well. I think National has a quick rent process which allows you to bypass the counter even if you aren't an Emerald Club member as well. I have never tried it. We used National on our trip earlier this month with the Priceless code and it was great. No concession fee and 10% off the rental. Very smooth and easy process.

Trust me, you will not get charged.

You have to have a Emerald Club Card to use EA.

On way out they want to see drivers license, credit card and Emerald Club Card- unknown about coupon-bring it if you have it.

Drivers license, coupon, and credit card.

Where can you find the priceless code? So far I have a full size car at $203 for 8 days but if I can add a coupon that would be great.

Drivers license, coupon, and credit card.

They are not letting you out of EA with only that. Who told you that? It is not true. Apparently you have never rented from EA. I have many many times. Sorry. You were wrong.

from Emerald Club Rules web site: (aren't facts better) What do you suppose "MY CARD" means?

http://www.nationalcar.com/servlet/DocHandler/index.html?404808dfe1d75ac

I must present my valid driver's license, an acceptable credit card (not debit card) issued to me with available credit and my Card to the rental agent or guard at the time of rental in order to enter into a rental transaction under the Program.

we always have to give emerald club card, credit card. drivers licence and coupon if we are using them when we rent from National ( and before when we had the disney club they often asked for that, but not always )

for some reason that url you posted does not take you directly to the page with all the "fine print" , you have to click on "Emerald Club Program Rules" to get to them

several pages of explanations are there,

the one you mention is rule #8

although they do not mention "coupon" ...no coupon tendered means you do not get the discount associated with it

thanks for posting that

Have to agree with Gail. Rented last month and did NOT have to show "my card". Had it with, but it was not requested at the check out booth.

EXCUSE me!!! I rent from them all the time, and since "my card" is linked to MY reservation, I do not need the EC card, I always have it but am never asked for it. Perhaps you need to call National and get clarification of this.

Wow. I for one appreciate the "facts" but not the attitude that went with it.

Consider the source and let it go!!! :) I also appreciate the facts, if they are accurate.

In the last ten rentals from National we have handed them these items: credit card, license and reservation print out and coupon.
That is it. The reservation number has all the EC information on it. We DO carry the card, just in case and do carry all the other cards that might be needed for the reservation. ie: Sam's club, Bj's etc.

I retried the entertainment coupon with the priceless contract id and my rate dropped from $250 to $214 for a minivan for 7 days. I think that's a pretty good deal.

I will definitely sign up for EA through the Turner link and will not worry about being charged. I'm really looking forward to telling my dh to take the kids and my mom and get the luggage and meeting them out front with the van ready to go.

As for having the necessary documents, I would expect to show the guard my reservation slip, my credit card, my coupon and my EA card. Just like if I was at BJ's or Sam's, I wouldn't expect to check out without showing them the card, if they asked for it. I really didn't mean to create hard feelings among posters over this.

Thanks again for all your help. It's greatly appreciated. As you know, when travelling with kids to a place like WDW, any dollar saved is a dollar spent in the parks!

That is a great rate!!!! Let me know, please, how you do with the sign up for National.

As to hard feelings, I have none towards anyone. We can all learn here and we all have had different experiences, I also can admit when I am wrong. :) In this case, I don't have to admit anything. LOL

Have fun planning your trip.

you must have a midas touch then gail.....

on the contrary, we have always been asked to produce the card and they scan it

if you are handled differently by the exit personnel, it does not necessarily mean everyone is handled the same way

am wondering what you are meaning by this statement

Consider the source and let it go!!! ?????

with regard to

I also appreciate the facts, if they are accurate

from:

Terms and Conditions of Master Rental Agreement

this is

8. Entering Master Rental Agreement Transaction

I must present my valid driver's license, an acceptable credit card (not debit card) issued to me with available credit and my Card to the rental agent or guard at the time of rental in order to enter into a rental transaction under the Program

sometimes what is stated in the rules does not happen, since some employees may not be on the same page as what is stated in company's policies and thus, you get by without presenting your emerald club card but that does not alter the "facts" as stated in the Terms and Conditions

Lawgs,
When we signed Brook, my daughter, up for QS last year they gave us the option of for going the card and having her numbers linked to the reservation where she would only have to show her license and cc. The big deal about this was to eliminate the need to carry the card. I also called National's EC number and received the same information. When you reserve a car using the EC log in, the reservation number holds all the information.
You need only show your license and credit card is what I have been told at least 3 times by three different people there. Oh, yes and if I have a coupon, it must be presented. Rather than belabour this point, why don't you call and ask them? It would seem to be a more logical way to do this. Bickering is not my forte, providing information for others is something that is more my speed. I do not react well to being belittled or to be told I am wrong and I obviously have never rented from National using EC.
If my answers bother anyone, they can put me on the ignore list, it sure won't bother me. As I said, we have never been asked for the EC card, the Disney card, the Bj's card or the Sam's card. Midas touch, no. I sure do wish. :) I DO carry them, just in case.
As to the comment you question, it did not apply to you, so, please, don't worry about it.

They also mention debit cards, and, after checking, it is the only one I have used for the past 5 years. Perhaps they have changed since last Feb. but, I would be surprised.

You are correct, my experiences do not alter the facts, but, it appears that I am not alone in not having to produce the EC card.
