gail..
why would i call when you have already and they have stated to you that you do not have to show it
perhaps, they should update their rules to reflect this
if you had included the above information in your post
Drivers license, coupon, and credit card.
perhaps it would have made a difference ( you had "information" due to your contact with National that we could not infer from your helpful short statement )
you still did not answer my query ....
am wondering what you are meaning by this statement
Consider the source and let it go!!! ?????
and after reading a subsequent post by you about not having any hard feelings towards anyone
that "statement" would seem to "blow off" the poster to whom you are referring as posting useless information and thus it should be taken with a "grain of salt"
finally, and do not know if this is true or not.....maybe a debit card with a "major logo" on it, is mistaken as a "credit card"
so you are saying they have accepted your debit card as a credit card
1. does a debit card have similar information that is input into the master rental agreement since the profile i am looking at on EC definitely says "credit card number, credit card type, expiration date"
something does not add up there
and
2. what happens when you return the car, can the "agent" checking you in, print you out a receipt on the spot or do you have to go to the counter to "settle" up
am thinking about using my debit card in the future if we can get it by national

Try not handing it to them next time and see if the information on the reservation suffices.
