National - Additional Drivers

I have an Emerald Reserve reservation for Sept. I know that my wife is automatically allowed as an additional driver. Is it possible to add an additional driver without stopping at the National counter in the airport.

I have heard you can do that at the check out kiosk, but, I am not sure. I would call National and ask.
