:cool1: Wow, the Disboutiquers are on a roll...yay for your family!!!!

Hello! I'm so excited for you and your family! The DISboutiquers are such a wonderful group of people, and really talented too! I'll be watching for your updates, and hoping you'll be posting pictures!

As mother of a special needs child, I know it means the world to know that there are others out there who appreciate that your family faces special challenges. How very special to feel that support through the friendship that spreads through this thread, and the DISboutiquers!

Well, I got a call from the MAW office and they needed a car insurance binder in order to book the car. I faxed that to them and then called her (Denise) to make sure she got it and to ask more questions. She said that they tried to book Chef Mickey and is was full, but they got Crystal Palace for us for breakfast on Aug. 20th. Denise said that she reserved a 12 passanger van for us  . I know that I have a lot of kids, but wow!! I have never driven anything that big before. I will let my husband do the driving. It will be an experience. She also stated that one of us will have to go to the orientation at GKTW to get our tickets and details about the trip. I wonder if we all could go and get an ice cream if we are not staying there :confused3 How often do they do the orientation? What do they give you for tickets? Nathan really did not show any interest in going to US. Is it possible to not take the US tickets and get more days a WDW? or will we have to buy additional days if we want them? Has anyone done that before? Denise at MAW did not know how that worked. Denise also said that MAW will give us expense money for food and other expenses. Our wish granters will come and see us in the begining of August to give us more details :yay:

My daughter will have her 19th birthday (Aug. 21) while we are on our trip. I heard that WDW really makes a big deal about birthdays. I know about the birthday buttons but what else can I do to make it special. She has had a couple of years of nasty birthdays. Little background info: a few days before her 16th birthday her boyfriend broke up with her. You know, first love breakup. I remember my first love breakup, it was horrible. Last year was a tough year. My father passed away on Aug. 17th :sad1: . I am an only child and my mother had passed away when I was 8 years old. Even though he remarried we were extreemly close and he was close to all my kids. He didn't remarry until 1 year before I married. Kim was his first grandchild and he spoiled her rotten (as he did to all my kids). He had been sick for years, but he did make it to her high school graduation!! His funeral was the day before her 18th birthday (I didn't want to have his funeral on her birthday). Exactly 2 weeks from the day my father died, Nathan ended up in a Boston Hospital in ICU, in a coma. Soooo even though this is Nathan's wish trip, I want to make her birthday one to remember for good reasons :dance3: My other daughters will have their bithdays in August also (Aug 13, & Aug 26). Can you celebrate a birthday if it is not our official birthday? This trip will be a good time to get away and have fun.

I will update when I hear more from the Disboutquers :woohoo:

Robin,
I am a big believer in allowing birthdays to happen whenever, like an unbirthday. I would say that it is close enough for you to celebrate which ever date or dates during your trip that work for you! No one will ask to see a birth certificate to give you a birthday button!

For your oldest daughter though, I would mention that she will be celebrating her 19th birthday on the 21st when you are checking into your resort. Some how, sometimes, balloons and a card just magically appear in your room for those sorts of things. It happened to us 6 years ago when we celebrated our 30th anniversary at Disney World. We were both so surprised! No promises, but it could happen!

I am so sorry to hear that your father passed away last year on August 17. I know from experience that it will be a difficult day for you all. Our youngest son, Ryan passed away August 17, 2006. He was 22. I will be thinking of you and your family on the 17th as I remember our Ryan.

Have a wonderful day.
Denise

When staying off property because the village is full, folks have access to all of the services at GKTW except for staying overnight there. So after, or before orientation, go and get some ice cream, ride the carousel or whatever you want to do. They will be happy to have you, especially since you will not be likely to have the time to come back and visit during your trip.

Thanks for the words of encouragment and the great tips. I am looking for the gel filled neck coolers. I think that will help.
We have been looking on line at the pictures of CBR. It looks like an awsome place. How was the food?

At coral reef, they have a diver that will go in the tank and hold up a sign with what ever you want to say " Happy 19th b-day_______________!
And yes all your girls can get the birthday pin at city hall!!
When you have it on, what ever place you go, they will celabrate it with you !!
When you get to the room tell them it's her B-day and they will ask what is her fav. person and they will give a b-day card from that person, with balloons!!

My mom's b-day is Aug. 17, she will be 69, she has dementure, it is very sad!!
My Dad passed away Oct.2003.
I'm so very sorry to hear about your Dad.

My dd had a really good year grade wise, but she did not like the school. She felt the school was to small for her and to far away. There was so much going at home, I think she felt lonely and left out. She transfered to a university in Boston.

I am going to tell everyone that it is her birthday. I will also tell CBR when we check in. I heard that sometimes they do balloons & a card in the room. We'll see.

Denise,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will pray for you and your family to give you extra strength to get through the day.
I think we will get bday buttons for all 3 girls, but really play up my 18 year olds bday. :rolleyes1 :cake:

Thanks for your kindness. It is amazing how connected people can become through experiences we never would imagine. Remember the wonderful things that your father did and the great man I am sure he was. One of my sons wrote that Ryan truly cared for his family and friends and always had time for them and in his honor we should try to do the same...I hope we succeed at this!

How wonderful to celebrate birthdays for all your girls and a make a wish trip for your son all at Disney World. No place finer!

Denise

Hi, I am stopping in from the disboutiquers board. Hope you are ready for all the pixie dust coming your way! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Thank you Disboutiquers :yay:

We can't find the right words to say how honored we are to be part of the Big Give. I have seen the amazing work you have done for other families. What a talented and giving group of angles to spread pixie dust to people you don't even know

Thank You Thank You :flower3:

 Hi Robin and Family!!! My name is Tifani and I am the coordinator for you Big Give. I can't tell you how excited and honored we are to be a part of Nathan's wish. I expect my pixies will be checking in here frequently to see how your trip planning is going.

Remember...NO PEEKING over on the disboutique thread;) You are all now officially banished until the Give is over. Then feel free to stop by whenever you like...we love company!

For everyone else who wants to follow along and check out what kind of magic our pixie dust is working for this and other Big Give projects (or our cute kids:cutie: ) BE OUR GUEST

Hope you're having a magical day!

It is going to be very hard not to take a peek, especially since the link is right there in front of me :) Thank you for all you do to add a little sunshine to kids who could really use it.

I was trying to think of activities for the kids on the plane. Thanks to bill, I went on the www.themouseforless.com and went to downloads and found all kinds of disney trivia questions, word search and coloring pages. I am going to make them each folders with there own pages to do on the plane. Any other suggestion that I can put in the folders? I didn't want to bring a DVD player, because what do we do with it while we are in the parks? I didn't want to leave it in the hotel room. Nathan's attention span is about 15 minutes and I can see him getting bored real fast. The excitment will make that 10X worse. I will bring cards and ????? :confused3

We were told by our MAW headquarters that "transportation" will pick us up at 7:45 am on August 16. They are providing transportation to and from the airport. :yay:

We are getting close to the 1 month mark. :cheer2:
