We will be docked at Nassau on the Dream this fall and I am trying to decide if my son and I should do a short excursion or just stay on the boat.
I was thinking of doing the Sunshine Glass Bottom Boat tour because it is short and I thought it might be nice to have a quick look around the island from the little boat.
But I guess i was wondering; is the view from the Dream ship just as good as taking a little boat around parts of the island? I am happy to just sit on deck and see Nassau from there if the view is decent.
Has anyone done the Sunshine Glass Bottom Boat tour? are the views of the island from the boat worth getting off the ship for? I have heard that the "glass bottom" part is not particularly exciting so i am not expecting much from that part.

The Dream is sandwiched between other ships while in port. You can see some land for sure from the front and back, but don't think you'll get an amazing view of the island like you will at Castaway. However, it may be enough for you. It generally is for us as we don't have reason to get off. You can see the Atlantis resort off to one side and the resorts and stuff nearby. It can be sufficient if you want to say, yes this looks like a tropical island and very nice.

Again, a boat on the water will only give you a view from the water, not a bids eye view. As we haven't done one of these excursions, I don't know what you would see, but I'm sure that the views aren't miserable, though they may take you more out to sea.

You could consider one of the excursions to the fort or pirate tower or whatever. That would give you a heightened view of the island while on the island. Again, not totally sure what you are looking for.

We enjoy the time onboard the ship when on the Dream since the cruises tend to be shorter.

I found the view from the Dream in Nassau to be really nice. We got a day pass for the rainforest room and enjoyed the view of the island from the sauna and the hot tubs--we could see beaches, sailboats, etc.. Very relaxing and nice not to have to bother getting off the ship given how short a cruise the Dream is.

While the cruise ship leaves port is there somewhere that I could sit or stand and watch as the ship leaves Nassau?

I think a short excursion is a good compromise - especially if you've never been to Nassau before. You'll definitely see a good bit more of the island than you would from the ship.
