On our Nassau day, I'm still trying to decide if we should book an excursion. This is basically what we want to cover. A little souvenir shopping (probably straw market), we'd like to walk around and just visit Atlantis, maybe a short tour of the city to get a little of it's flavor, and probably a little casino time at Atlantis later in the day after returning the kids to the ship.

What do you think would be the best way to cover this?

Hi,

I have never done a Nassau excursion (luckily the first time I went I was with someone who has been before.) So, I am not familiar with DCL's however, I have been several times since then and know my way around just fine. I would say if your kids are upto a little walking skip the Nassau excursion and go it alone (especially if you want to just do a little shopping) as everything is within walking distance to the ships.

To go to Atlantis take the boat that's next to the DCL ship. However, without paying for a DCL Atlantis excursion here you won't be allowed everywhere at this hotel. Matter of fact, it's pretty much limited to the casino floor, shops and restaurant. You won't even be able to see their pool or beaches.

To get a quick tour of the city...get a taxi from Atlantis and take it back over to the ship. The taxi driver will be happy to point out a few places if you ask and you'll be travling the opposite side of the city from where you went to the straw market anyway.

Anyway, that's what we did the first time.....
