So I read that people do this and it's a bit cheaper...has anyone done this recently? Will you pls share your experiences? Both good and bad! Worth the hassle? Was it pretty smooth? Anything you are willing to share...I will read! Thank you!!!

We did this. Totally easy. Best value is if you have exactly four people in room. If you're not four, I'd post on your cruise meet thread.

We did this in 2014. Super easy and saved us a boat load of cash. We had a wonderful time and thinking of doing it again in December if it's not too cool.
