When we were there last July, I never seen the razor fencing or military standing around. The only thing we seen was the Military ship at the port. So do you think as long as we walk in a group just to go in a couple shops to get t-shirts we should be okay? I know every time we go there, and this will be our 4th time in the last 4 years I have felt its not as safe every time we go. Like I have said, I wish Disney would quit going there. The ONLY reason we keep going back is this is the only short cruise Disney has and cruising with our little grandson, I don't think he could handle being on a cruise much longer. Honestly, I wish they would take a short cruise to Key West, Fl and Castaway Cay. I would take it.

If you stick to the main tourist areas, I think you will be safe. I have never felt unsafe in Nassau.

I don't know maybe we were just lucky but we walked around the town and it was fine. We did the catamarran excursion through Disney and it drops you off within walking distance to the boat but I needed luggage because mine had broke so I walked around looking for a luggage place and the locals directed me to the shop. Then the lady wouldn't take anything but cash so I had to go to an ATM and withdraw $100. I felt safe the entire time. Now I had my football build 6foot 4 husband with me so that could have helped but I didn't feel unsafe. As we walked back to the boat we were offered weed and we politely declined. I think we're going to try Colonial Hilton with my girls (ages 8 and 5) and hopefully we'll be fine.

Like dcassetta said, I think if you stay in a group and stay in the tourist spots, you'll be fine. It's not Syria but I would take precautions (not to wear jewelry, expensive clothing and avoid wearing stuff relating to DCL).

I think I saw booths with t-shirts inside the secured perimeter too.

We loved Blue lagoon and will go again when we Cruise in 2018 for the Dolphin Encounter this time but I would not, my husband agrees, wander around not in a group. I have only seen razer wire around prisons in the US. I was very surprised to see it when we had to come back to dock. We did not see this at all on the way out. I was very freaked out and glad to be back on the ship and we were docked towards the end of the Pier.
