Any DISers from or been to Nashville. DH and I are leaving Wed with our church mom and dad for a 6 day stay in Nashville. As my counter says, we're going to see the DOVE AWARDS (Christian Music Awards) and then they're going to take us sightseeing. They've been before. I just want to know what to look for. I'm quite excited as I haven't been to Tennessee since the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville.
Would love to hear from any of you from or around the area. If not, thanks for reading and I'll see all of you in a week.:smooth: :p

I used to go to Nashville a lot, when they had Opryland there.:) Now they've got that mall there in it's place. A friend of mine lives there. She loves it up there.:) If I talk to her sometime soon, I'll see what sites she suggests seeing there.:) Have fun, Denise.:)

Hi Tiggerlover91--I'm from East Tennessee, not Nashville, but I would recommend seeing the old Ryman auditorium (used to be the home of the Grand Ole Opry). You might like visiting the Opryland Hotel, it's pretty amazing. And definitely visit that mall that browneyes was talking about.(Even though they very inconsiderately replaced the Opryland Theme Park with it :( ) The mall has a Rainforest Cafe if you are looking for a nice place to eat.

I went down there during christmas this year... Opry Mills is the big mall down they and its really good. If your lookin for some good county, down home cooking... go to a place called Caulk of the Walk. Cornbread and fried pickels are good! Im country at heart.

That's a good suggestion-**** of the Walk is really good and it's up the street from Opry Mills Mall. There are also some really neat restaraunts in downtown Nashville. There's a Spagetti Factory (really good and really reasonable) a way cool fondue place called The Melting Pot (romantic and expensive!). Those are both downtown right on second avenue.
If you like antiques at all, there's a neat town called Franklin,TN just south of Nashville full of little antique shops. Have fun whatever you do!!

Thanks to the rest of you and the wonderful suggestions. I can't wait! Onemichelle, we've got a Melting Pot right here in Pensacola so I can just do that here and save some money. :D I'll let you guys know how the trip went when I return. Take care and I'll talk to you guys very soon. :jester:

Are you attending a show at the Grand Ole Opry? Also - check out the Opryland Hotel - we've stayed there - and got lost getting back to our room!:o

If you're into history, President Andrew Jackson's home, The Hermitage is nearby - it's beautiful!

I lived in Nashville for 9 years. I would echo several of the suggestions from others.

- Ryman Auditorium
- Opry Mills
- Grand Ole Opry (if you think you might go, let me know and I'll give you some more info about the show)
- Opryland Hotel is a must see - some wonderful places to eat in there too - plan a couple of hours just to walk around inside, seriously!
- Not only does Franklin have a lot of antique shops but a it also has an incredible amount of history around it - beautiful town
- The Hermitage!
- Belle Meade Mansion
- Centennial Park
- Parthenon in Centennial Park (art gallery inside as well as just the architecture of the building - it is a full size replica of the Parthenon in Greece)
- Country Music Hall of Fame (interesting even if you aren't a country music fan) and a tour of Music Row
- Percy Warner and Edwin Warner Parks
- Radnor Lake
- Cheekwood
- I could list about 100 great places to eat

There are so many things to do there. PM me if you want any specific info.

Wow! Bob listed places I have never been to and I live in Nashville!

Also, if you are downtown they just reopened the Hermitage Hotel. The restoration is beautiful so drop in and look. Downtown can be a little dead on the weekends so be forewarned.

PM me if you have questions or want a local contact.

I second the notion of going to Belle Meade Mansion! It's beautiful! I also recommend checking out the Wildhorse Saloon downtown Nashville. What fun! I haven't been back to Nashville since they tore Opryland down. :( Opryland and WDW have always had special places in my heart for different reasons. I just haven't been able to bring myself to go back and see a mall where the wonderful Opryland used to be!! I miss the show, "And the Winner Is", the Cumberland Boys and the ride Chaos. Memories! Have fun!

HIYA GANG!!

"Dad" and I just loaded up the RV!!! WHEW!!!! :p I wish you could see the food that "mom" and I purchased. I thought to myself on the way to their house...."I didn't have this much stuff when Charles and I went to Disney for nine days!!" :smooth: Getting the big suitcase in the RV was loads of fun! Where's my big strappin' DH when I need him? :teeth: "Dad" tells me that the high in Nashville when we get there Wed. is supposed to 41 degrees. LOVELY!! So we are all just about ready. Wish the weather there was warmer, but hey...who knows...maybe someone will make it happen for us once we arrive. :sunny:

I want to thank all of you again for the great advice on where to go. Some of the places named, "dad" has planned to take us there. I will let you all know how the trip went when I return. I think this is my final good-bye for now. I might sneak back in later, but I'll TRY not to post. :o

See ya soon,
~~~Denise :Pinkbounc :bounce: :wave:
