Any Tennessians out there that can tell me what the traffic will be like in Nashville Friday morning(7/1) between 8:00/9:00? We will be driving I65 to I24.

TIA :car:

It usually peaks around 7:45-8:00 AM and gets gradually better. If you hear warnings of an accident you can take Briley Pkwy and follow it through to I-24, it does change from a divided highway to a 4 lane road with traffic signals for about the last mile and a half. The worst part will be the I65 part as you will be part of inbound traffic, on I24 you will be heading outbound. If you stay on I65, make sure you are in one of the 2 left lanes as you head into downtown, the I24/40 east junction exits to the left; then you will need to move to one of the 2 right lanes as I24 east junctions to the right when it splits from I40.

Normally (and surprisingly to some) Friday's aren't that bad. In addition, with this being a holiday weekend, lots of people will be taking off for a long weekend and the usual morning traffic will be thinner.

You'll be coming in on I65 South, going through downtown. At that time you will run into a little bit volume. It will be slow (around 40-50 mph), but unless there is some type of accident, you won't be going at a crawl.

Once you get past downtown (which won't take long), and get on I-24 East, you shouldn't be in any traffic at all.

But, remember, it is a holiday weekend. :)

P.S.
I've lived in Nashville my entire 36 years on the planet. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info, looks like we will hitting Nashville about 8:30am, so hopefully the trafic will be thinned out some.

Yeah, you should really be fine.

But, you will be hitting Atlanta at lunch time on a Friday that's also a Holiday weekend!:scared1:

I HATE Atlanta traffic. Don't be surprised if you're in stop-and-go traffic an hour outside of Atlanta.

Good luck, and be safe in your travels. I'm taking my family on our first Disney trip in October!!!
