-100 driver points
-100 owner points ( his poor wife)
-$100K in hard cash
VP and crew chief dismissed for however long

What do you all think.

He gets to race in the 125s in another drivers back-up car ,but Toyota doesn't seemed to please with the integrity of the sport part.

Ouch! Nascar has always been a sport about finding the grey areas and exploiting them. I like Michael but this hurts.

:sad2: Uh oh Bad Mikey.... we all know that part didn't come from NAPA like that ;)

I bet Toyota is way mad :furious: about this, not the kind of publicity that they want for sure. And I don't buy the excuse he has in the article that it was due to one person and no one else knew about it :rolleyes1

They have said it wasn't actual "jet fuel". It was a similar substance. I believe MW response. He 's not new to racing and is debuting his ownership of the cars. I don't think he would knowingly jeapordize the start of his racing ownership.

OUCH! Is this something that as a driver, Michael didn't know about? I dislike when crew chiefs get bright ideas and read around the written rules without the drivers knowledge.

If you cheat and get caught then M. Waltrip deserves everything that happens. I don't believe that Michael didn't know what was going on.

He is the team owner as well (well his wife is) So even if he didn't know he knew that the numbers were not good and then all the sudden they were.

I'm sure he is under a lot of pressure to get this thing moving on so who really knows.

They may have thrown the VP and crew chief under the bus to try to save face for Toyota.

I think it's really a shame! It really looks bad for Toyota! I guess we'll never know if MW knew about it or not. I was glad that as owner he accepted responsibility for it. 100 points is a pretty big penalty. Does anyone think the penalties should have been harsher?

DW and I are really big Mikey fans. However, it is really tough trying not to look stupid by blindly defending him.

I just keep coming back to the thought that he would not knowingly take that big of a risk. Toyota, NAPA, Dominos, BK, UPS + 3 new teams and all the money that could evaporate if Toyota droped him. If he knew, I would think someone in NAPA/TOY knew as well but would provide deniability if caught.

This is just too big of stakes to take that kind of risk
