My new husband and I will be in Disney for April. We were wondering which of the two would be best for a Romantic dinner? Or do you all have a BETTER choice?

We ate at Narcoossee's on our trip in Sept and it was fantastic. We were celebrating our anniversary and my birthday and we got complimentary champagne and a birthday cupcake complete w/ candle. it was really sweet.:goodvibes

(for another great romantic restaurant and TERRIFIC dinner, try Flying Fish...it was our favorite hands down) :thumbsup2

My husband and I were just in Disney last week. We ate at both the Cali Grill and Narcoose's, back to back actually. We loved them both. I would recommend going to both of them but if you could only pick one, go to the California Grill.

We ate at the California Grill during the fireworks. I didn't request a window table when I made the reservations but when checking in I overheard another guest mentioning they did. So, when it was my turn, I put my request in for a window table when I checked in. I crossed my fingers that my anniversary button would pull some strings. It did!

We had a beautiful view of the fire works. We were sat by the window near the middle of the restaurant. It was amazing. The food was beyond words. We had 3 different sushi rolls. The pork was so good! The desserts were awesome! Hope that helps.

Cali Grill is not romantic. The view is nice if you are near a window, otherwise it is very open, busy, loud, lots of movement. Not a quiet, romantic place.

We like Jiko for a more romantic setting. Much quieter than most Disney restaurants, beautiful setting, darker so it feels more private, etc.

Narcoossees, Narcoossees, narcoosses! It's small, delicious, and you can see the fireworks and the electric water pagent. We had the best time there, so much so that we're going to book it OOP for our december trip.

we didn't like california grill at all, it was the antithesis of romantic.

We've done both and Narcoossee's is definitely more romantic. Both are very, very nice and will give a high level of service, but Narcoossee's from the lighting and general atmosphere is definitely the more romantic choice.

Congrats on your marriage and have a magical trip!

Narcoossee's is more romantic AND is the better choice. Cali Grill is bright (except during the fireworks) and very loud ... nothing romantic about it at all. Both times we've eaten there, they've been way over booked and the service has been awful.

Romantic? If we're talking quiet dinner over candlelight, neither one! They're both quite loud and boisterous restaurants.

Now if we're just talking food, Cali Grill is MUCH better. Narcoossee's isn't bad, but it's not worthy of being called a signature to me. The only thing signature about it was the prices!

If you want a traditionally romantic meal, I would suggest Citricos.

Foodwise, Cali Grill. Ambience, Narcoossees (thought the food is good here too. I just prefer the menu at Cali Grill more)

Narcoossees hands down!! For both food and being more romantic!

Cali grill is very loud, crowded and bustling. Narcoossees is definitely quieter...

Congratulations:goodvibes

We will get to try both back to back in two weeks! I can't wait to try the sushi at Cali Grill and the lobster at Narcoossee's!:cloud9:

It wasn't loud at all last year on Christmas, loud to me would be CM, I love the food, the service everything about it :thumbsup2

I think the overall experience at the GF makes Narcoossee's a better fit for romance. You can walk around the grounds and inside the hotel, shop a little, have dinner, catch fireworks, enjoy some quiet spots. Their two tops at Narcoossee's all have decent views of the lake and toward the castle -- and everyone goes outside for the fireworks, so you don't need to worry about your seat for seeing those. As a resort, the Contemporary doesn't quite hit on the notes of romance.

Since you asked for alternate ideas, I'd recommend thinking about Citricos. It's a quieter restaurant the servers are very good.

And I will close with what I tell everyone about a romantic dining experience - it will be what you make of it. The most romantic meal I've had on property with my better half was at Kona, which is a good restaurant but not on the top five romantic spots lists. Timing, setting and attitude have more to do with romance than expense, cuisine or type of service (as long as it isn't bad service, although I've had some greatest nights out around terrible service). Our romantic night out on our next trip is taking the friendship boat from DTD to eat at Olivia's and then back to DTD for brownie bites and walking around. We've never been to OKW, so the adventure will do us good. This is on a trip where we will also be eating at Bistro de Paris (very romantic spot, by the way). I just know that for us, the adventure will be more romantic.

Find your adventure.

CG in the wine room, very quiet and romantic. Also you can see Epcot! The food was amazing, fantastic sushi, filet cooked to perfection, and an excellen wine list. First class all the way :thumbsup2

Watching the fireworks from the roof of the Contemporary in the arms of your SO is kinda hard to beat.

Narcossee's is much more romantic, but the food was a little mediocre compared to some of the other signature restaurants.

ITA agree with you about CG's wine room. It is small, cozy and very romantic! It is my favorite WDW location to eat for a romantic meal.

I have eaten at both CG and Narcoossees and neither is romantic, with the exception of CG's wine room as stated above, as they are both incredibly loud and bustling. Jiko is a great alternative to these restaruants, if you can't get the wine room.

If by romantic you mean rather quiet and subdued, neither restaurant qualifies. There will be noise and kids everywhere.
The Wine Room at CG is a bit better--IF it's open the evening you are there, and if it IS open, it isn't already full.
Citrico's is a better chioce than either of these two for the "romantic" factor.

Better yet would be II MUlino, Flying Fish or Shula's. And the Bistro in Epcot.
