Ok, first of all, I know these 2 places are completely different. I am torn between a signature restaurant or something like Cape May. This will be the first visit for my daughters (6 and 7) and I, so I thought I'd make our last dinner special.

I would like a signature restaurant, thought about Yachtsman Steakhouse or Narcoossee's, but wonder if my daughters would like Cape May better. We have other character meals planned already.

Your thoughts? What would you pick?

Thanks!

I guess a lot depends on what your little girls enjoy most.

For me, I would choose Narcoossees every time. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely with quite low levels of lighting, the view of the castle across the lake is magical, and the food is normally great. However, it is very much a sit-down kinda place. Your girls would really need to stay at the table for the whole meal, or walk quietly outside once or twice to the porch area to look out at the lake. Depending on timing, you could watch the electrical parade on the lake and then Wishes from Narcoossee's too of course...

If, on the other hand, your girls like brighter places that they can move around a lot more, then Cape May would be a better choice. The dessert buffet display there is wonderful! They can go up to the buffet as many times as they like. There will be more choice of food to try as well as the normal chicken strips and mac n cheese. It's more of a fun atmosphere than Narcoossees, and the food has alwasy been good here but not special (in my opinion, and apart from the desserts, which rock!)

If your daughters are people that love and appreciate food, and are quiet and well behaved in a restaurant, I would say pick Narcoossees and lap up the Castle views. If they are louder and more energetic and will always want to be moving around, pick Cape May.

Hope this helps you choose! :thumbsup2

Couldn't tell if you thought it was by your wording but Cape May is NOT a character meal at dinner...I am pretty sure about this. But if it were me with little kiddos, you might consider Cape May just for the atmosphere...a little less....stuffy.

Cape May is not a character meal at dinner (only breakfast). I would think Cape May would be better for children (lots more variety - even adult food) plus their crab legs and clam chowder is "out of this world" :yay: The atmosphere is very beachy and laid back, but yet very nice. The buffet is the one of the best at Disney IMO. They also have some very yummy desserts  We go at least twice every trip and have never been disappointed :) Oh, and also, they have great variety in non-seafood dishes as well.

We've dined at all three and can tell you that you honestly can't go wrong with any of them and would agree that it all depends on what type of experience you're looking for. Narcooses is a great restaurant with wonderful views but would agree that it wouldn't be a place to go unless your little ones could sit through the meal without getting antsy...my teen girls really liked the food & atmosphere here. Yachtsmen has some great steaks and although it is listed as a signature restaurant, the atmosphere is not "upscale" at all....JMHO. As for Cape May, we truly enjoy eating here and do so on every trip. There is such a variety of food and there really is something for everyone. Like I said, you really can't go wrong...they are all good places to eat. Good Luck!

Narcoosees is very casual; I would hardly call it upscale dining and if they didn't offer high priced lobster, would be hard pressed to consider it a signature.

Cape May is a Disney buffet. I'm not a fan of buffets so I'm jaded when I say that I would not consider this a "last night/special" meal.

Yachtsman is okay. I probably like the menu a little better here than Narcoosees (neither of them rank in my top 10 WDW dining experiences) but the atmosphere is meh.

If you are trying to make the evening special for your girls, out of these 3 I'd pick Narcoosees. It's not in the least bit stuffy or formal, it's on the noisy side and a large number of tables have window views which are always enjoyable for the younger diners.

Yes, you are correct. I just meant that it would be more laid back. My girls are very good at any restaurant, so the quiet dinner wouldn't be an issue. Thanks for clearing that up
