Narcoosees & cali grill

Can anyone tell me about these 2 . I have booked Narcoossees for our anniversary as I could'nt get Cali grill. I'm hoping to see wishes from there, I'm booked for 7.10 (all I could get) & wishes is at 9. Should I keep trying for Cali Grill or leave it & try for a later time?

I don't know about Narcoosee's but I know at Cali. Grill they are quite good about 'holding' your meal while you watch Wishes, so if you don't mind eating late a reservation time of about 7:30 - 8:00 would work well there.

Or you could get an early time and they will let you back upstairs to the restaurant to watch Wishes.

We won't be going back to 'the World' until 2011 but we have got a trip to Chicago and the Smoky Mountains booked for July so look out for that trip report in August. We will also be doing a Disney cruise around the Baltic in June next year and I'm hoping to do a short trip to Disneyland Paris in March next year so plenty to look forward to!

To be honest I preferred being at Nacos than at Cali Grille - it seems more romantic and not as loud and not as crazy. They bring in the music when the fire works are on. But you can also go outside which is lovely to watch from the boating dock.

I love both restuarants and have eaten at them a few times. The last time was in April.

I love Narcoosees but it's not really set up for you to hang around after your meal to watch wishes. The view is great though from the deck outside. The food is good but I always feel cold when sitting in the restuarant and find that the food also gets cold quite quickly. My DS12 favourite meal at Disney is the surf and turf (filet steak & lobster), which we have also had as room service when staying at the GF.

But ...... Cali Grill is our all time favourite. We ate there twice in April. Once we had a table booked and requested a window seat (which we got) had excellent service and food. The second time we didn't have a reservation but sat at the sushi bar and another great meal.

On this ocassion we didn't watch wishes from the observation deck as we had a TPV room at the CR but a couple of xmas's ago we eat there on xmas day and watched wishes out there.

I would say that the Narcoossess deck has the more central view of wishes, but if I was picking somewhere to eat for my anniversary it would be Cali Grill although it might be a bit louder in there it seems to feel a bit more special (to us anyway).

I have a copy of the menu from Cali Grill from April if you are interested I could scan a copy when I get back to work next week.

Just to let you know we phoned for our ADR's today and got Cali Grill for 22nd Aug at the time we wanted no problem so keep trying you never know.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this for me. I have rang back twice know & still can't get Cali Grill but have managed to get a slightly better time at Nac than we had originally.

We've eaten at both. Food wise I think cali grill is quite a bit better.

Both pipe the music of wishes into and around the restaurant.

View wise, Narcoossee is way off to one side - so a lot of the fireworks dont appear anywhere near the castle. Likewise, cali grill is way off to the otherside which kinda spoils it a little (but only a little!)

For cali grill we stayed at the table as we had a window table - and nothing obstructs your view (although there are a couple of window tables with posts in the way!) Oh they also dim the lights inside cali grill.

For Narcoossee, we went out onto the dock/balcony/whatever you want to call it area which was very nice. No idea if they dim the lights inside, but as others have said, I've read many people say the window views get quite blocked by the people outside.

If you finish your meal way before wishes time, you can still hang around in the grounds at grand floridian (eg on the little beach). Not sure where you can hang around at the contempory to see them if you leave the restaurant.

If you have eaten at Cali. Grill they let you back up to watch Wishes. I think the Outer Rim Lounge on the 4th floor is open again now so it would be feasible to have a drink down there and then go back up to CG later on, or spend some time sitting on the beach before going back up.

I have eaten at them both, to be honest I prefer California grill, this year we are giving Narcoosees a miss and only eating at California Grill out of these two, though will be eating at some of the other fine dining restaurants, including my personal favourite, the Yachtsman.
The Surf and turf at Narcooses is pretty nice though, its the lobster and filet mignon.
I can understand that you have had difficulty in booking California grill, there was only 1 day of 14 available for mid August when we booked at 90 days out last week.

Thanks guys, I actually had problems with most of my desired restaurants for the times I wanted & found it really distressing as the previous 2 years at 180 days I'd got what I wante. Ive rang back twice the 2nd call was a bit better & the third a lot better, still out of luck with Cali grill but got a slightly better time at Nacoossies, managed to get 8.55 for our first morning at CP (8.05 wanted) and changed our DS birthday celebration to the following Sunday to get Donalds 8.05 breakfast & CRT 8.15 dinner. The cm was brilliant but the first two did put my off & I still havnt rung back for the last 4 days.

I know what you mean! I have phoned 3 times, trying to get the mama melrose/fantasmic package; and each time I end up apologising because they have made me feel like I am really inconveniencing them!!

Strangly enough that was 1 of the few that i did manage to get, although we changed the date to get it. hope you manage to get it.

I have since read that the fantasmic package for Sept hasn't been released yet, so hopefully might be able to book it after all
So hope you manage to get Cali grill aswell!
