Napa Room vs. Whitehall Room

We are deciding between the Napa Room or Whitehall Room for our reception. The selling point for Napa Room is the amazing view of MK and of course the fireworks!!!

I have seen some great photos on here of the Whitehall Room set up for a small reception but not too many of the Napa Room. Does anyone have photos of the Napa Room from their reception? Can you use chair covers/swap chairs for other ones? What are some of the set up options?

Any advice on how to decide?

I have the same question!! I love the view from the Napa room but I am not crazy about the decor and I can't find any good pictures of it "transformed" for a reception. I am also a little skiddish about the menu constraints. I have asked the wedding planner at Disney for some pricing ideas on table set ups for Napa and specifically about new chairs!! I don't like the wooden chairs. I'll post again when I get more info. I am looking at an October 2010 wedding date. What is your timing?

Don't know if you've seen these, but here are some of the pix Disney sends out...

these were our choices as well but went for the whitehall room in the end as we could choose our menu as we were not impressed with the choices at the napa room.

You can still see the castle from the whitehall patio

We had ours at the Napa room. The food is amazing and I cant wait to go back!!! Here are a few photos for you. We had about 40 people and we all fit very comfortably!

Thanks, those pics are great!
We actually decided on the Napa Room, for the view and the food. Then, as luck would have it - the Whitehall Room was taken on the day we wanted (8-9-10). So it is fate for us to have our reception in the Napa Room and we think it is the right venue for us and the type of wedding we are going for.

If there are any more pics out there of the Napa Room decorated, I would love to see them for ideas!

Hello. It sounds like you kinda already made up your mind but here's my story. I had my reception in the Napa Room on September 7th this year. To answer some of your questions I didn't use chair covers as the basic chair there is beautiful and didn't feel the need to cover them. You can't use a riser for the sweetheart table. That's all I know.

Anyway, My DH and I loved the Napa Room and so did our guests. Our guests are still talking about the reception and the view! We had our reception at 11:00 AM as it fit in our budget a bit better than a night reception. Another thing to consider is the view is amazing so it doesn't need much decor at all.

I must admit the menus were a bit weird (IE: goat cheese raviolis, goat cheese polenta, salad with pomegranate balsamic vinigrette, chicken with a mustard marinade, etc.) and it made me nervous when I got them, but I can't say this enough - the food was to die for! My guests loved the food as well and everyone thought the goat cheese polenta were mashed potatoes!! Just a heads up, you can't have a taste testing if you go with the Napa Room but no worries. I'm kind of a picky eater and it was just amazing.

Anyway, enough blabbing and onto pictures:

HTH! Good luck!

We are having our evening reception in the Napa Room this December. We were able to add a few of the extras like different napkins, tablecloths but we love the chairs so we aren't doing the covers. So, we don't have pics yet but I can't wait and its wonderful to see the other pics of girls who already had them there!

We've chosen Napa Room over Whitehall Room - when I sat down and thought about it, although I love the GF, you can't get that view over the Magic Kingdom at a reception anywhere else in the world, but Whitehall just seemed like it could be at any hotel (no offence to those who have chosen Whitehall)

I will probably get the chair covers, as I just like the overall look with them on. The new menus for CG have just come out and they look delicious! I'm really pleased with them and so excited to be choosing one for our wedding! I think we will go with one of the "California Style Platters" for the main so everyone can try a bit of everything.

Did anyone consider The Attic as a third option. I had a great conversation with Misty about photography for the wedding and now I am really torn between the photo ops and fun of the boardwalk and using The Attic vs the Napa Room. Any thoughts from those who have considered both or have seen both?

Thanks

I've seen both! Even though the decor at the Attic is not my taste, I prefer it to the Napa Room because it feels more themed and less '90s beige chic. The Attic also has a great view (OK, so it's not the Magic Kingdom - but you can see Spaceship Earth!), which I didn't realize til I saw it in person.

But lots of people think the Attic looks like Grandma's house, so it all kinda depends on your taste. :rotfl:

Also, your ceremony site might make a difference - we got married in Epcot, so all we had to do was hop a boat to get to the Attic. If your ceremony is at the Grand Floridian, California Grill is closer.

Oh, and you can see fireworks from both places, but the view of Wishes from California Grill is unobstructed, whereas you can only see the higher fireworks of IllumiNations at the Attic.

I didn't go to see the attic but ruled it out due to the decor. I am having a formal wedding and so the GF fit that for me whereas the Attic was too informal for my tastes.

Hello, we've seen these menus too, they look great.

Dose the 'California Style Platter' mean that everyone gets brought a bit of each? The beef, chicken and fish?

Just checking, when I first saw the menus I assumed people had a choice of the three main dishes.

yes it means everyone gets a little bit of everything and doesn't need to choose just one. HTH!

How much does that cost per person. I keep hearing about the option for everyone to try everything but have never heard a price. I am guessing the menu that says 90pp means just one.

WE chose the California Grill for the fire works and my family always stayed at the Contemporary when I was younger so it has special meaning to.

My menu and pricing is based off this past April's menus so they have gone up a little with the new menu's that just came out but this should give you a rough idea. There are 4 menus to choose from and all have the California style platters they start at $89/pp to $125/pp. I ended up choosing the cheapest (Healdsburg) but not because it was the cheapest but because it had the most food that we liked however we were able to change out our chicken dish for a pork dish we liked instead. So, we are having a beef, fish (salmon), and pork as the 3 choices each of our guests will be able to have. We also cut out the dessert it came with so the wedding cake would be eaten so we didn't have to take it all home LOL! This actually dropped our price pp and we had to add things to make sure we would hit our F&B minimum.

I can't get past the menu thing. One of the main reasons I'm going with DFTW is because you can pretty much ask for anything, and they'll do what they can to accomodate them. However with the napa room they give you a choice of menus and you have to pick one and stick with it...

I'm too fussy an eater to let someone else decide the whole meal...
