Kay, I gotta share my happiness.
This year, 2 of my classes seem made for me.
American Cultures II - Here we talk about the wars, like the French and Indian and the Revolution. Part of our unit also covers the historical aspects of Boston and Philadelphia. My hospital was the 1st hospital in the US, founded by Benjamin Franklin. It's 3 blocks away from the Liberty Bell and Independance Hall. It's in the historical district, everything from Carpenter's Hall to where the Declaration was written is close. I have SOO much to share this year!
Biology - I'm going to see if I can bring in some of my slides. When I was diagnosed, the pathologists couldn't figure out what type of cancer I had, so they sent my slides to the Mayo Clinic, which is one of the top 5 hospitals in the country and probably the #1 teaching hospital. My type of cancer was so rare, it was the first of it's kind. The Mayo Clinic kept the slides with my cells to teach, the cells weren't typically shaped like cancer cells, nor were they all cancer, they had cartiledge in there. I might be able to get ahold of those slides and share them in class.
How cool is that??
Momma Anya, that is so cool.
