This has got to be the best topic of all the Dis boards. I am finding so many great things my inner "Martha Stewart" is starting to shine through. I do have a question. I have seen many great t-shirt downloads from very talented members, here. Some of them have, for example, a Mickey Ears hat with a very noticable blank space that I am sure is intended for the child's name. But since my inner 'martha' is new I have no idea how in the world to add my child's name to the picture. Do I print them separate? I have no idea.
Any help would be truely appreciated.

First copy and paste the image you want into Word

Text

After you have inserted your picture into Word. Make sure that the cursor is blinking below the picture that you inserted.

Then look for the tab at the top of word that says "insert".
Scroll down and right click on "text box".

A big box will show up on the screen that says text box...ignore this box but look for your mouse that will show up as an +. Move the +/mouse to where you want your text box to go then right click and drag the mouse to make the size box you want for the area you want the name to go.

Then go back up to the top of word and click on "format".
Then click on "text box".
Look for the tab that says "colors and lines".
In the fill section make sure the color box says "no color"
In the line section make sure the color says "no line".

Then the background will show through behind whatever text you type in the box and there won't be a line around the text box.

Then you can type whatever you want inside the box by clicking inside the box and choosing font and size.

If the box isn't the right size you can drag the corners and sides to make it the right size.

This is great to use when you find a DISign that you like and want to add a name to it. For example, Natalie's great Mickey Heads...she has a lot of blank ones in her shared file that you can add names to.

Borders:

You can add borders to your pictures, text boxes or the page itself by going to the top of word and right clicking on "format" in the drop down box you will see "borders and shading" the borders will allow you to add a border to most anything and will let you choose the size of the line and color. The shading will allow you to color the background if you don't want a white background.

What you can't do

You can not make the name DISigns where pictures are showing inside of letters using word. There are several great threads on this site like Kellybell's where she will make them for you if you don't have the right software or know how to use it. Otherwise, there is plenty you can do just using the software most people have already on their computer!

Hope this helps! Dolly

This is actually not true. I've just done several shirts with pictures inside the letters, created using only Word. The way to do it is:

Open a new document and click: Insert --> Picture --> Word Art. Then a box will pop up that says "Select Word Art style". Select the first box (upper left hand). A box will pop up for you to enter your text and select your font and font size. Enter your text, click ok, and you will then see your text in your document. You can use the little click and drag points around the box to make your Word Art bigger or smaller.

Click on the text, and a Word Art menu should pop up somewhere in either the upper or lower corner of your screen. Select the "Format Word Art" icon (little bucket and paint brush). Under the "colors and lines" tab, choose the "color" drop down and select "Fill Effects". Click on the "Picture" tab, and then click "Select Picture". It will then take you to your "My Pictures" folder on your C: drive.

*Now, in order for this to work well, you will need to use a high resolution image. * Lower resolution images will come out blurry and not crisp.

Select the image you want to use, and then click ok. It will then take you back to the "Format Word Art" box. Click ok, and then it will take you back to your document with your text filled in with the picture of your choosing. You can change the color of the outline of the letters, by going back to "Format Word Art" and clicking the "Line" drop down. Pick any color you like, and you can change the color that is outlining your letters. You can also change the thickness of the line again in the "Format Word Art" box, just next to the drop down for "line" color.

Again, high resolution images are best, so that when you enlarge your text, the image within the letters will stay crisp and clear.

Hope this helps someone! :flower3:

You are so very welcome!

Your question about saving as jpeg piqued my interest, as I didn't know how either. BUT, I figured it out. Once you've created your Word Art, click on the box and copy it (or cut it). Then open Paint and paste it in. Once it's there, you can do FILE and SAVE AS, select either .bmp or .jpeg, and name it and save it! Then.... BAM!... you have a jpeg (or bmp)! :flower3:

If you have a newer WORD version, you can also convert your file to a PDF document. Open your new PDF document and then do "Save As" a JPEG. :)

:worship:You guys are great! This info is super and you explained it so well I think any one can give it a shot !
