What you can't do
You can not make the name DISigns where pictures are showing inside of letters using word. There are several great threads on this site like Kellybell's where she will make them for you if you don't have the right software or know how to use it. Otherwise, there is plenty you can do just using the software most people have already on their computer!
Hope this helps! Dolly
This is actually not true. I've just done several shirts with pictures inside the letters, created using only Word. The way to do it is:
Open a new document and click: Insert --> Picture --> Word Art. Then a box will pop up that says "Select Word Art style". Select the first box (upper left hand). A box will pop up for you to enter your text and select your font and font size. Enter your text, click ok, and you will then see your text in your document. You can use the little click and drag points around the box to make your Word Art bigger or smaller.
Click on the text, and a Word Art menu should pop up somewhere in either the upper or lower corner of your screen. Select the "Format Word Art" icon (little bucket and paint brush). Under the "colors and lines" tab, choose the "color" drop down and select "Fill Effects". Click on the "Picture" tab, and then click "Select Picture". It will then take you to your "My Pictures" folder on your C: drive.
*Now, in order for this to work well, you will need to use a high resolution image. * Lower resolution images will come out blurry and not crisp.
Select the image you want to use, and then click ok. It will then take you back to the "Format Word Art" box. Click ok, and then it will take you back to your document with your text filled in with the picture of your choosing. You can change the color of the outline of the letters, by going back to "Format Word Art" and clicking the "Line" drop down. Pick any color you like, and you can change the color that is outlining your letters. You can also change the thickness of the line again in the "Format Word Art" box, just next to the drop down for "line" color.
Again, high resolution images are best, so that when you enlarge your text, the image within the letters will stay crisp and clear.
Hope this helps someone!
