Oh gosh, this is hard to explain.

Okay, so my real name's Mariclaire. (pronounced Mary-Claire)
My mom knew a girl in highschool named that, and hated her but loved the name, and decided right then that she would name her first daughter that.
Then on top of that, both of my grandmas are Mary, and my mom's Claire, so it's kinda paying tribute, too.

My middle name was my paternal grandmother's middle name.

And my nickname, Mickey (which everyone calls me- most people don't even know my real name) was what my maternal grandmother was called as a kid.
Her last name started with "Mc" so she became Mickey.
And they thought "Mariclaire" was too big of a name for a baby, so they started calling me Mickey when I was little and it just stuck.

Middle name: Katherine = both grandfather's mother's name. But they spelled it with a C. Gram Catherine on dad's side insisted on the K "to be different".

First name: ONLY name my parents could BOTH agree on!

But they pronounce it differently...dad says "MEG-han" and mom says "MAY-ghan" (M-e-a-g-h-a-n). I have two friends (one BFF!) with the same name, same spelling. Teachers and subs use both ways. But, (and this was funny) we all ended up in the same Keyboarding class, and purposely sat next to each other! So the teacher just referred to us as "Meg, Meg, and Meg".

I'm not named after anyone. My parents hate the whole naming your kid after a relative thing, so neither my brother or I have family names (well my brother's middle name is the name of my great-grandfather, but it was a mistake, not intentonal).
I think it's mostly because my mum's entire family is named after other relatives. My mother is named after her aunt, both first and middle name. My aunt is named after her aunt (and she changed her name) and I think possibly my uncles are named after people too.

My parents liked my name, and picked the spelling Hilary. I'm not sure if they picked it because that's the one they saw it was spelled or if they were aware of the different varations and chose this way.
As for my middle name, my mother wanted it to be Paige. But she was afraid I'd be made fun of and be called 'Hilroy Page' (it's a brand of looseleaf in Canada).
Sadly enough, even with the middle name Lauren, people still made fun of me and called me Hilroy.

Originally, my mom wanted to name me Ariel, after Ariel in the Little Mermaid; but my dad didn't like that name so much.
He liked the name Devan, so it was either Ariel Devan, which doesn't flow as much as Devan Ariel

My Mom wanted to name me Wendy because she liked the name. But my Dad hated it. They both liked the name April, so they chose that. I wonder if the fact that I was born in April had anything to do with it.

My middle name's Marie. I believe that's my great grandmother's name as well as my grandma's name. My aunt also has the middle name of Marie.

I got lucky, my full name's only 16 letters. ;]
