Names on room question

We have a trip booked for December with 3 rooms but one of the rooms we couldn't get in standard view to book all 7 nights so its missing the first 2 nights. The other two rooms have space so the plan is to stay in there for the first two nights then switch to our room on the third day but how do we do that on the reservation since it puts you on the room the entire stay when you add a name. Also that would put us on 2 rooms and I believe that isn't allowed. No dining plan so that isn't a problem. Just trying to figure out how to straighten this out. Put other names on the rooms and just use those room cards to enter is one way around it that I can think of? Again it won't put us over occupancy, it would be 2 1BR rooms with 4 people in one and 3 people in the other.

I'm pretty sure we have had friends/family come visit for a day or two and had them put on the room just those days (at front desk). So you could book the first two rooms just under other people's names then add yourself for two days at check-in.

Just put yourself on both. Once you actually get there and move to your own room, the front desk will just take you off the first one.
