Does anyone have any experience using the name your own price for flights on Priceline? If so, I'd love to hear your experience/ how it works.

I am looking at visiting my grandparents in FL (Fort Myers) the week before Easter. I couldn't get tickets earlier, because I didn't think we'd be able to go. We are looking to fly Sun. to Fri. Between it being Easter week and school vacation week, prices are naturally high. (Over $500 per person) Unfortunately, our dates are not at all flexible. I don't care about seating assignments or layovers as my kids have traveled plenty and are comfortable with airplane travel. I just am not familiar with the whole process.

Thanks!

I believe most of the flights wind up being the most undesirable....red eye, etc. You could get a long layover and I would plan on a full day flying in and a full day flying out.

I wouldn't do it.

I have done it several times and it definately has the ability to save you money. But...you must be able to travel any time during your arrival/departure days. The official priceline rules say your flights will happen between 6AM and 10PM on the dates you select, but again that is a big window. The only time we do it is when we have flexibility on the beginning and ending days of our trip. It has been my experience that at least one of our flights always end up being early, around a 6:30 AM departure. So if you don't want an early flight either coming or going I wouldn't do it. But if you are flixible it has worked several times for me.

Good Luck

Look at the airlines that fly to and from your destination and then find the most undesirable flight times (usually the ones that are still the lowest priced), those are probably what you will be assigned (not guaranteed).

Additionally, if there are any flight time changes that require a rebook, you will need to work through Priceline to rebook your flight, you will not be able to work directly with the airline.

I've always wondered about seat assignments. Do you get whatever is left or is it possible that your seats would be together?
