Name your favorite beach

anywhere from Tampa down to the Keys where you can just pull over and drop the kayak into the Gulf.

I love Sanibel and Captiva Islands. I love the great shelling here and the fact that they are walking beaches. Not too many people lying on the beach and not too many umbrellas. Also the fact that the buildings are not supposed to be higher than the highest palm tree. We have been visiting there for 35 years and now own 3 time shares there.

My favorite beach is Rehoboth Beach in Deleware. DH and I went kayaking there once and about 100 dolphins surrounded us. They came so close we could almost touch them. I felt totally safe and at peace. It was definitely the most amazing experience I've ever had. I was so touched I couldn't stop crying. I still get emotional when I think of it.

Well, Pensacola Beach is my home - but I have to say that Castaway Cay, without a doubt, is my favorite beach to go visit!

Rehoboth Beach is definately my favorite beach as well. I went there annually since I was about 1 year old (I took my first steps there). I may have skipped one or tow years and that's it. It's a nice family beach with a long boardwalk. It's the perfect speed for us.

Thankfully DF likes it too and we will be taking our future family there.

There's too many good memories not to return annually and I'll be back on June 18th.

So far, my favorite is Napili Beach on Maui. Here's a pic of it that I took on our honeymoon:

Second is Punalu'u Beach on the Big Island of Hawaii. (This is not my pic.)

Beautiful photos Laura, is that lava-sand?

I have relatives in Rehoboth Beach, but haven't been there in many, many years. I'm sure it's changed a lot!

What a great experience, to have dolphins surround you and your DH like that!

Living in Southern NJ I have plenty of beaches to choose from but I haven't been much of a beach person since I was much younger. I tend to get bad migraines when I go to the beach due to the sun glare. Locally I guess I would say the southern end of Avalon towards Stone harbor would be my favorite when I do go around here.

Now if I could go back to Bermuda that would be a different story :cool1:   . Every beach there was my favorite. Because the sand isn't actually white but pale pink the glare was not the same and I didn't get a headache at all. It was wonderfull. Every beach we went to was beautiful, clean and non-crowded. If I had to pick a very favorite there I guess I would say Horseshoe Bay though.

We had so much fun at Poipu Beach on Kauai one year.

When we use to visit my grandparents, my dh & I would go to Fred Howard Park near Tarpon Springs, FL. We could leave our camera bags on the blanket & take a walk down the beach. That was 15-20 years ago, haven't been in a long time as my grandparents aren't here anymore but I wouldn't do that now.

They also introduced us to Sanibel Island with all of it's lovely washed up seashells and sand dollars.

Ah yes, I just saw the picture of the black sand beach on the island of Hawaii. That was so beautiful & different. Also the green sand beach at Ke'e was interesting. Hawaiian beaches:thumbsup2

Just going back & reading this thread, how could I forget about the gorgeous, wonderful beaches in Washington, Oregon & N. California. Absolutely beautiful scenery. Another:thumbsup2
(No offense to mid & southern California but I haven't been there yet!)

Jupiter/Juno Beach on the East Coast of Florida. I have been to Hawaii, Calif beaches, Cozumel, Belize, Costa Mays, Bermuda, and some of the islands in the Caribbean, which have beautiful beaches but Jupiter beach is still our favorite. Some areas of Jupiter Beach are breathtaking.

For Non-US beach my favorite is Papagao Beach in Lanzarote, part of the canary Isalnds off of North Africa. It is so peaceful there as it is a National Park, although development is getting closer these days :( The sand is very golden which is unusual considering the islands are volcanic.

.

For US beaches, I have seen so far, it has to be St Pete :)

The beach that's a few blocks from my house here in Ocean City, NJ.

1st - Scarborough Beach in the great state o' Maine

2nd - Nauset Beach, Cape Cod

3rd - South Beach, Martha's Vineyard

Well, I've never been to Hawaii or California and I suspect those are some of the best beaches out there, but here are my best beaches:

1. Castaway Cay (had to throw that one in there)
2. Siesta Key, FL
3. Cape Cod, MA

Tough question for me. I just love the beach, period. I just planned another trip to Ocracoke. It's marvelous beach. I love the beaches in Hawaii-especially the palm lined ones. I really liike St. John-Francisco Bay, Maho Bay and the tiny little beach at Waterlemon Cay. I like a beach with coral not far off the coastline so not so much sand either. Snorkeling is the bomb! So many beaches, so little time. sigh

Our favorite beach is Grace Bay, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. I think the pictures will show you why! We've been there 3 times and have two more trips booked for the future.

It's on Cape Cod in West Dennis, but I don't remember the exact name. We used to summer there every year when the kids were growing up and I have such fond memories.
