Name your favorite beach

The three mile stretch of beach from Ogunquit to Wells, Maine. It is my favorite because it is the most pristine beach I have ever been on. The sand squeeks under your toes. The dunes protect the beach, and there are hardly any built up areas along the 3 miles. There is a river behind the ocean dunes, making it even more quiet and exclusive. Even in the middle of the summer, there is plenty of room to walk and run. People say hello to you as you walk this particular beach. There are little sandpipers everywhere and cautious gulls that don't bother you like more populated beaches. You can always see sailing boats on the horizon. When you take a deep breath in, there is no other beach in the world that smells and feels the same as Ogunquit Beach. :)

I need to investigate some more to find my perfect beach. :teeth:

When we lived in Maine, we went to Ogunquit Beach all the time, there and York Beach long sands.

The water is just too darned cold though!

Beautiful Jones Beach on Long Island. World renowned for it's miles of soft sand! I also have a soft spot for Charlestown Beach in Rhode Island. Great dunes!

Yes, the water is cold, but when we go every September, the water is just about perfect. I do not care for southern beaches because I find the water too warm! When the air temperature and the water temperature are the same, it just isn't right to a New England girl like me!

Well, I am not very well travelled, but the best beach I've been to is Destin/Ft. Walton Beach in FL. The sand is sugary soft, the beach is very quiet, and the water is emerald green. I really want to live there someday.

Ive been to alot of places on the east coast ( love Jekell Island) and gulf including Mexico and my all time fav is Destin . We stay at the same place every Sept and its always quiet, blue water and white sand. Nothing makes me happier than jumping in my car and 4 hrs later being on the water with a good book and then later heading over to Silver Sands outlet and going to the Coach Store ;)

Wrightsville Beach, NC. Its where DF and I took our first vacation together and its where we're getting married this year. :goodvibes

My great grandparents lived in Destin,FL.My great, great grandfather founded it. Back in the early 60's,Destin was a little village-there was only the Jitney Jungle grocery store. Anyway,Papa was the harbor master. We used to swim across the channel where the boats came in to a little island. We called it Papa's Island. Today,it's known as Holiday Isle. Back when I'm talking about ,it was just the most pristine, beautiful beach that you would ever hope to see. The sand was as white as snow. We would shell. It was magnificent, especially to a 5,6,7,year old girl. The wonderful memories of swimming with my grandfather,Popee,is what makes this my favorite beach.
I wish people who visit Destin today could have seen it back then.It is way too congested and I don't care to visit anymore.

I haven't been to the beach since I pregnant with my first son.....over 13 years ago!! That was St. Augustine beach and it was ok. My brother tells me the beaches of San Destin are beautiful, so we may check them out this summer.:)

Far away would be any beach on Oahu.
St. Augustine Beach in Florida.
Any beach on the coast of Maine.

North Myrtle Beach, the Cherry Grove section. I love having tons of things to do and it's only a 4 1/2 hour drive from my house.

AWWWW I totally know what you are talking about. I have been visiting that area since 1973. I still LOVE it, but yes its way different than it used to be. Its still very white, but very busy. My favorite memory is of my daddy swimming with his red swim shirt on and me climbing on his back and hanging on. We finaly threw that shirt away a few yrs ago... I should have kept it lol.
Good times!!!! My Ds4 now has happy memories of eating at the Broken Egg for breakfast in Fort Walton and at the Pancake place in Destin and lots of happy days on the beach in Destin. Yes its not the same as the old days, but lots of happy memories now . I also have lots of happy memories on Okaloosa (sp?) island as a child at the Best Western LOL.

Treasure Island, FL and Bradenton, FL. Beautiful beaches and not overly touristy. My entire extended family vacations together in Treasure Island every year.

Deveraux Beach in Marblehead, MA...I grew up on that beach:thumbsup2

I don't have a favorite beach because I don't like going to the ocean. Or the lake for that matter. Swimming in water with lotsa creepy crawly thingies and/or fish/jellyfish/other bitey-stingy things makes me nervous.

I like Newport, Huntington, Carlsbad and Santa Monica. I have not been to Hawaii yet, but when I do, I have a feeling I will add one of their beaches to my list! I like the beaches in So. Cal. because they are the ones I have been to the most, so they feel the most "like home" to me. Santa Monica is great because of the pier and it is always fun to people watch in So. Cal. and the weather is usually always nice, no matter what time of year!
