Name that grandfather?

My DDs and my brother's kids call my dad pa pa
When I was little I tried saying Grandpa but it came out Gunda. So my grandfather was Gunda to me.

My dad's dad always signed his card Grossfather but I called him grandpa

Let the kid name him. Whatever that name is will suddenly become exactly what the Grandpa wants to hear. :rotfl: Russ calls my MIL - yes, a woman - Opa. We don't know why, we're not German or anything. But MIL loves it because it's her special name. He calls my dad "Ampa" and my mom "Am-me."

I called my favorite grandparent Papa, so I have nothing but fondness for that name.

My kids call their grandfather GrandDad. Other grandfathers I know: Papa, Grumpy, Bippy, Duke. Those few are rather unobvious!

my youngest cousin called my paw-paw "papa" so that's what everyone called him up until his death (my other grandfather died before i turned 2). my DH called his grandfathers "pop" and "B" i don't know what the "B" stood for, b/c his first name was arthur, lol.

My DS calls my father "Lilo" because grandpa in Spanish is abuelito. He couldn't say it when he was younger...and dubbed him Lilo!

Thank you all so much for you ideas. SO is lurking on this post and trying to figure out which is best. :goodvibes

My parents are Nana and Papa to my kids.

My FIL is called Pop Pop, or Pop by my kids. I even started calling him Pop or Pops instead of Dad now. LOL
My friend's son calls her dad, Grampy. Someone else uses Grandad.

I called my Grandpa, Grandpa(and that's what my kids call my Dad), but now that my kids have a Pop, that is my favorite.

I have Italian heritage (okay I am something like 1/4 but who would know?) and we had to call out great-grandparents:

Mamuche (grandmother) (pronounced MA-mooch)

and

Tadone (grandfather) (pronounced TA-doen)

We also had a gramps, grandfather, and a grampy.

I agree, my DS calls my dad Ba-Pa, and my dad loves it, he calls my mom Mama, and my FIL Sha-Sha.

Here in western PA you hear "Pap" quite a bit.

My MIL is "Mim" because she was too young to be a "grandma".
