I'm going to go with some German Shepherd as well.

The dog we had was such a mix that the vet actually suggested doggy DNA testing to us. We never did it, but here is a link for you. I thought it was kind of interesting, but not worth the money. We were happy with our Heinz57 label!

He looks just like our dog, except our dog has the black/tan color combo (think Dobie coloring). Our dog is a GSD mix, they said mixed with Doberman but we don't think that's right, we think he's mixed with some type of hound. I have photos but my photobucket sucks, it always tells me my pw is wrong when I know it's right so I can't upload any......but I would definitely say your pup has some shepherd in there. Our dog is also the same size.
