Name something you lost or Something Stolen at Disney????

We've lost quite a few things over the years but have had pretty good luck getting them back. Someone thought I'd lost my video camera but I was just washing my hands after changing the baby, I almost had a heart attack. I raced to DL lost and found and it had just been turned in. I also lost a gold bracelet the morning my husband gave it to me for our fifth wedding anniversary, a cast member turned it in, Bless their heart. My friend lost a pin bag full of about $1000 worth of pins and it was never recovered. The worst was when someone took stuff from our stroller, including my 5 year-olds autograph book she'd been getting signed for three days, that really hurt.

Just a thought, I have heard that if you have an autograph book stolen, you should tell a cm and they will sometimes (they have in the past anyway), taken it somewhere, gotten the signatures made out to your name, and then return it to you. I know 2 people this happened to.

(also always put your name & address inside the autograph books - in case it is misplaced, dropped...it might be returned
if found)

Thanks for the ideas. Luckily,(but sadly), my kids are past that age now. I also carried their books the trip after that and put a name sticker in them. The CM's getting a new book sounds just like something they would do, they're the most wonderful people.

We were just stupid, I guess... but last yr, when checking out of VWL after a nice long 10 day stay, dh and I decided to skip bell services and pack our car ourselves. In the commotion of doing this (and keeping an eye on 3 kids), he thought I had cleaned out the bathroom drawers, and I thought he had. 8 hrs down the road later, I went to find some Dramamine for our son -- no meds/ cosmetic bag. Realized with horror what we had done -- egad, we left not only that, but all my make-up and jewelry. I didn't have anything mega mega expensive, but I did have several very sentimental pieces. We called VWL as soon as we got to my sister's house (it was by this time 11 pm). The staff were nice, but very disjointed (kept switching from mgmt to housekeeping to Lost-n-found, back to desk clerk, etc.) One week later, a box comes to our house. It has everything in it (qtips, meds, etc.) Everything EXCEPT... one nearly new Clinique makeup compact (worth about 20 bucks) and an opal ring and earrings matched set. I could live without the make-up (and can't understand why someone would want someone's slightly used compact.. ewwww.) But I still get sad, nearly a year later, aover that ring / earring set. I have a matching necklace and whenever I wear it, people sy ohhh how pretty, and it just eats at me that I lost the rest of the set! I had been given the earrings as a gift from my mil/fil after the birth of my 2nd son, and the ring came the following xmas. I keep having this image of someone wearing Ivory Bisque makeup strolling around in my ring and earrings.... AUGGHHH!!!! I even looked on ebay for a long time, wondering if someone would try to sell it... nope, just like me, it's probably their favorite now, too.

My lessons learned: 10 bucks saved in bell service is worth a whole lot of misery. And secondly.... I never take anything I can't replace to WDW (or any hotel) ever again!!!

Funny thing about this -- I did get back a heavy gold chain, a nice watch, gold earrings... and I'd trade any of them for the ring and earrings in a heart beat. I guess they thought I wouldn't miss those few pieces. :(

A couple of years back my wife lost her Room Key & Annual Pass at Magic Kingdom (or had them 'lifted' from her pocket).

The hotel was able to cancel the key (and its charging privelages) and issue a new one. Guest relations issued a new Annual Pass.

The old Annual Pass turned up the following morning, thrown on the ground outside the turnstyles at Animal Kingdom. Someone obviously didn't know about the fingerprint readers!

There has to be more of these stories out there somewhere.

after 9/11 DVC..ers were sent a Mickey pin (American flag colors) DH pinned it on his GF hat and thought as long as he turned the hat around it would stay on his head.....NOT.... our pic going down SMt shows him with the hat....sadly it flew off...big surprise.....at one time the pins were selling on E-bay for $300..but thats not really the point....he was upset......after we ret. home the hat came in the mail...I still have my pin......

We just got back from BCV on Sunday without DH's watch. My 2 DDs and I went to SAB and DH met us a few minutes later. When he got there, he realized he had forgotten to take off his Bulova watch. He didn't feel like going back to the room (it was a bit of a walk) so he tucked the watch into his folded shirt and put in on our chair. Probably not the best idea but we really didn't think it would be a problem. Obviously we were wrong! After swimming for a short time, we went back to the chair to gather our things. My husband picked up his shirt and put it on, not thinking about the watch. We were almost back at our room when he realized that he didn't have the watch. He retraced his steps back to the chair but no watch. We think that it was stolen because it when he put his shirt back on, the watch should have dropped out and it didn't.
Anyway, we called lost & found and left all the details but haven't heard anything. It was disappointing but we didn't let it ruin our trip and we learned a valuable lesson for future trips: Get a cheap Timex for vacations!

Thanksgiving '99
The family was unable to get reservations
at the Dixie Landings for 9 straight days-
so we had to move to the Disney Institute in mid vacation-
After moving, while getting ready to go out for dinner, DW realized that our jewelry, plane tickets and wallets were missing-

Trying to remain calm we called the Dixie Landings to have someone check the room before housekeeping or another guest checked in
After what seemed like forever, they called to say that
housekeeping had found some "things" in the room -
It took some time but eventually they delivered a plastic bag to us at the Institute-(they were changing shifts),
Apparently, IDIOT DH (me!), left the room safe open while packing and forgot to check it before I left

EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING was present and accounted for-
UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!!!
Talk about our LUCKY DAY- I don't even want to think of the
consequences-
Needless to say  I haven't left a hotel room since
without performing a VERY thorough search!!!!!

back in '96 while visiting EPCOT i used the bathroom next to spaceship earth and i placed my fanny pack on the hooks inside the stall and when i got out i forgot to grab it. I suddenly remembered when we were at the hotel...we called lost and found and they had it..i had $400 in there and apparently the person who returned it took $330! and left me a bunch of change!from that day on i always looked to see if i have evetyhing with me

On our trip in 2000 my daughter had to use the restroom so she took off her fanny pack and hung it on the door....bye, bye fanny pack! it was kind of late at night and when she washed her hands and left the restroom we didn't notice until we were on the other side of the park. there was some disney dollars, a camera and a pearl which she had gotten at the japanese department store. She was pretty upset and we never got it back but we will be more careful THIS time.

In Aug 2001-our camera was stolen off of our backpack. We never got it back-which was disappointing because it was our kids first trip and it had undeveloped film in the case and the camera.

In September 2001, my sister-in-law lost her watch on Space Mountain. It took a couple of days, but it showed up at Lost and Found. I was amazed.
:p

I lost a two-way radio on the Haunted Manshion Ride ,and I realized about an hour later so I went back to look and found it on the floor of one of the cars.

Not at Disney, but returning home...

A few years ago returning home to UK through MCO.

I put my laptop, camera and other hand baggage through the XRay machine.

The laptop came out first and security asked me to bring it over to a side table to boot it up.

I return to the Xray conveyor, pick up the rest of my hand luggage and go to the gate.

No camera. (Canon T90, not the cheapest camera in the world!)

Return to security, no camera there either.

Did you see a camera left on the belt?

No.

Should I have believed them?

On our trip in Nov. 2001, I had a bag of film (about 15 cannisters) taken by housekeeping. Half of them had been used throughout the week at the beach part of our trip, and it was just our second day at Disney. I am still so sad to not have that film, now I just have to rely on the pictures in my mind. .. :(

Okay last Oct my son lost his wallet with $75 in cash in it, about an hour after getting to ASM room we get a call from someone that found it.. My son was so happy, as his money was still in there.

Well Last week on our last day I lost $54 in cash that I put in an Envelope, I know that it was a dumb thing to do but we were leaving the park and it fell out some where at EPCOT, BUSES or ASM.
Well I happy to say that Disney wrote to me that they found it and will send a check soon.
The only reason they were able to know that it was my money as I told them I had a ticket with my address on it, that I paid for my son before leaving home. Lucky me.
Also I found someone sunglasses while at disney and turned them in at City Hall..

Oh I also Lost my High School class ring years ago, but after 7 years some one returned it in, and I know have that back too..

In 1997 when my twins were three we took their first trip to WDW. We were on a bus back to DXL for the night. My husband had our video camera next to him on the floor. Son was sitting on his lap because it was crowded. We were about the last of ten on the bus when we got off. Early next morning by about six he realized we didn't have the camcorder. We called everyone we could and no one turned it in! We never recovered it. So someone is enjoying my kids' first trip to Disney.

A camera lense cap, baseball hat, and someone had the same umbrella stroller we had parked outside of Pirates and accidentally walked off with ours. They had a hat and child's toy in it, ours had nothing (in the pouch). We turned in theirs but they never turned in ours! Maybe they thought that was theirs and that someone took out their belongings? Anyway, Disney said we could claim the one we turned in if no one else did within a certain number of days (I can't recall how many)but they would have to ship it to us since we were going to be back home. The cost of shipping was 1/2 of what a new stroller would cost(ours was 4 yrs. old). Now we tie things to the handles to identify it!

PS-Disney was kind enough to let us use their stollers for the rest of the week for free.
