Here's the situation: We're contemplating a large family trip in 2008. We would need 3 2BR, 2 1Br, and 1 studio. (Yes, for political reasons the studio has to be separate from a 1Br.)

Anyway, all the people in these rooms have the same last name and even 3 of the husbands have the same first name.

So, I was thinking about making the reservations in the wives' maiden names. This will help me keep all things straight and hopefully prevent confusion and errors with MS on the day I book.

Does anyone foresee a problem with this strategy, especially at check-in? I'm relatively certain all the wives can present proof that Jane Doe (reservation name) and Jane Doe Smith (check-in name) are the same person.

TIA,

Won't they have to produce an ID with that name on it to check in???

Ask MS about your problem and see what they recommend.

Editted to Add: You are one brave soul. Are you paying for all these villas or are you asking the other family members to rent their own points (or do you have enough points to get all of these?). If they get their own, they can give their own name and address (with the name of the owner on the confirmation.)

Why not simply make the ressie in the wife first name and married name? Unless the wives all have the same first names as well.

It seems that would work. And if by chance two of the wives have the same first name, then for one of them, use the husband's name.

Yeah, I could definitely see it being a problem if the wife only has ID in her married name, without her maiden name on it at all. I know I don't have any ID with my maiden name on it anymore, since I didn't keep it as a middle name.

We did a large family trip last month and two of the people had the same name. Of course, it did get screwed up a little (had them both at the same address) but it didn't cause any problems at check in or throughout the trip. The one who seemed to screw it all up was Grand Gatherings, so if you plan to book anything through them, good luck. They seemed to be the ones to confuse things.
