Name change on Magic Your Way Package

Hi Everyone - Wondering if anyone can help me out with some advice. I have a Magic Your Way Package booked - we are about 30 days out from the reservation. My husband now has a business trip so grandma is going to go with us instead. Will we be able to change his name to her name on the reservation? We have free dining so I want to make sure she has that too.

Is your husband the 'lead name' on the reservation?

Once upon a time they could change out any name on the reservation... But not the "lead" name.. (the name in which the reservation was made/held)

Not sure if that's still true.. but the best way to confirm this is to call the reservations center and ask.

They will "typically" waive this unless your change results in a reduction of the price of the package.

When my neighbors and I booked our rooms last year, we commented we were celebrating the husband's return from Afghanistan not long before check-in.

The CM booked the trip in the wife's name "just in case." She said if something happened and bhe couldn't check in as the lead, they would have to rebook it and we would lose our free dining.

We were also given a long list of charges for changes between 45 and 15 days before you arrive; the last being a $15.00 charge no matter what changes you made at 15 days.

If your husband is not the lead guest on the reservation, it shouldn't be any problem replacing his name with grandma's. There also shouldn't be a change fee to do this. As CanadianGuy said, the fee is usually waived if the package price does not decrease. I booked a package yesterday and the CM told me I could make any changes prior to 45 days out with no fee. She also said if any changes were made after 45 days but before 15 days prior to arrival and the cost stayed the same or increased, there would be no fee. But any changes 15 days or less prior to arrival, there is a $15 processing fee regardless of what it does to the total cost. Changing the lead guest isn't usually something they do, but if your husband is the lead guest, I would call and explain your situation and see if they are willing to make the change without you losing free dining.
