Name 1 difference between your Christmas this year to last year?

(fingers crossed) it is seeming more relaxed, less rushed and calm.

On a budget this year. Last year we went where we wanted, got gifts for who we wanted, etc. This year, we're on a very strict budget to try and get debt paid off. So not spending as much. Like sitting home tonight instead of going downtown to listen to free music.

On a very personal level, my closest cousin to myself and sister passed away last Feb. This will be a "Remembrance Christmas" since I have spent almost every Christmas of my life with my cousins. This may be the year it all changes (where we don't get together).

On a lighter note, I have done a toned down decorated home this year and am very happy with that!

Another difference would be shifting focus to Winter Solstice / Yule over xmas for me. It's kind of been gradual over the last few years, and it's an easy transition since most of the xmas traditions were taken from older celebrations anyway. But it just feels more peaceful and less commercial the more I focus on the older traditions, and I'm really enjoying that this year.

Well, in 2024 our dog Bella was alive, my dad was still living with my stepmother at their apartment and neurologically he seemed to be functioning fairly well.

This year Bella died, but we have Willow and Blu, our two rescue dogs that we adopted. They are such sweethearts, get into some mischief from time to time, but remind me how much I love having dogs in my life.

My father is now in a rehab facility and no one knows what happened after the last fall and brain bleed. The doctors don't know if he's developing dementia, he's got mobility issues now, so he may be wheelchair bound. Their situation is complicated and I suspect it's going to get worse in the near future.

I can't say Xmas 2025 is really any better than last year....both years were pretty challenging and mentally I'm exhausted.

My cat is different.

Merida died in early July; Tsireya came home with me on August 30.

this is our cat's first Christmas without her mama (she passed in the spring). she has really come into her own personality wise (much more outgoing) and not going after the tree like she and mama did every year (we will see how the bows on packages fare when the gifts get put out).

I'm ready to say goodbye to 2025. It's been a challenging year. I've had some health issues and had surgery. My BIL girlfriend had 2 brain aneursyms, too many things broke in my house and one of my dearest and closest friends passed. Ending this year with a another house fix...a new roof. I hope that's it for a looooong time.

I am a year older. 2025 was our first year of living just on Social Security. It all worked. Now I just have to see when I file my taxes where we really are financially.

Oh I have no complaints about Tsireya. She is a spunky girl with a BIG princess personality. I almost always travel home for Christmas, so I don't decorate my apartment - probably for the best with Tsireya as I have no doubt a tree would not last. LOL.
