OK so, when did you get your nails done? At home or at Disney?
We leave on a Saturday and the wedding is on a Tuesday. I'm contemplating acrylics...but have had them in the past and taking them off is a pain. I thought I'd just keep my nails short and then have them done before I left...but the polish will chip and I wouldn't be happy. Finally, I considered Disney...but how much does that cost???

Thoughts? Experiences?
TIA

I did them at a nail place by the Premium outlet shops, they were awful and so expensive!! I get my manicures at home for $10 with frnech for an extra $3. these people sucked and charged me $20 for the manicure and another $5 for the french. They were rude, did a horrible job and when I didn't tip them because of the poor service they got even nastier with me and my mom.

I had my nails done the day before our wedding with the girls. I also went off site from Disney because it was crazy expensive at the Grand Floridian spa to have a mani/pedi done compared to going off site. I didn't have acrylics and my nails didn't chip since it was so close to the wedding day!

I have the exact same situation (leaving Friday and the wedding is Tuesday) and was going to ask the same question sooner or later, lol. I'm thinking that it would be better to do acrylics the day before we leave so it will last until our wedding but I'm still debating. :confused3

Does Disney do acrylics and how much? Does anyone recommend an outside nail salon?

I am getting mine done at home and was having the same dilemma. I spoke with my salon and am getting something called Shellac Manicure. Apparently, it lasts longer than a regular mani but doesn't require a full set.

My timeline - getting nails done on Oct 9th, flying to Disney the morning of the 11th, wedding is the evening of the 12th. My salon assured me there will be no prob keeping them in good shape and no chips!

Here is the info from the website...

Shellac Manicure
$40
This Manicure includes everything in our Signature Manicure except the polish application will be with the Shellac system which features a Base Coat, Color Coat and Top Coat with a UV lamp. These comprise the breakthrough in resilient color that remains flawless for two weeks and removes in 10 minutes. 14-Day Wear. Zero Dry Time. Mirror Finish. Really!

I'm getting mine done the morning of the wedding with my mom and MOH, at the GF spa. We are staying there and the ceremony isn't till 5, so I figure we will get breakfast and then head to the spa for a nice relaxing morning. It is expensive but I am doing my own hair and make-up so I can justify the cost.

I'm getting mine done at Mandara Spa (Swan and Dolphin) the day before the wedding. It's $100 for mani/pedi on a group rate...

Getting mine done on the Friday, flying out on the Monday and the wedding is on the Friday, so they will have been on a week. They will be fine, but if not i will get them redone the day before.

I did mine myself the day before we flew out. Not a single chip or scuff during the entire trip. In fact, they lasted over two weeks before the tips started to wear! A good nail lacquer with under and top coats will stay well. I used Orly from Sally Beauty Supply.

Were getting ours done at the Mandara spa the day before the wedding as part of a pampering afternoon :)

thank you for all the replies!
I think I'm going to look into the shellac mani and look at prices for the GF spa. Wedding isn't until 5...So, I'll have sometime in the morning...
Thanks!

Disney does not do acrylics, I asked at both the spa resorts:sad2: It would make it so much easier if they did, but I'm sure it would be Disney prices.

Well that sucks but thanks for the info lol...now i better decide if to find a nail salon there or do it at home prior to the trip..decisions, decisions:confused3

I had the shellac done for my wedding and i would highly recommend it. I had my nails done on the first of this month and the paint has barely started to chip now and that's over two weeks later. It's a little more expensive but works really well. Another great thing about the shellac is that it didn't damage my nails either. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask. HTH

Is there a special remover when you want it off? I have heard great things about this, but my fear is that once some of my nails start to chip and look bad, I won't be able to get the polish off.

You're supposed to get it removed in the salon that put it on but honestly i've just started slowly peeling it back myself (shame on me) so i don't have to worry about getting it removed. I had mine done french and i've trimmed my nails since then so the white tips are gone and all that's left is the clear on the rest of my nail.

Great news on the shellac, thanks for the feedback!! It will be my first time getting it as well.

I asked my salon the same question and, not sure if this is the case everywhere or if they are just nice but, they said I can come in and they will remove it for free. I do get a lot of services done there and am getting a lot done for the wedding so they might just be throwing it in. Doesn't hurt to ask! :thumbsup2

I was thinking about this also. We arrive at POP Dec. 27th and our wedding is not until the 4th so we have a few days before. I am actually going to Woodhouse Spa http://www.orlando.woodhousespas.com/default.asp It looks so nice there. I don't want to take any chances so I am just going to book the day before. We just hit the 99 day mark till we leave...:woohoo:

Disney Chick that spa looks lovely! Please do share about your experience I might want to go over there and have a mani pedi myself!

:scared1: omg, are they brushing gold onto your nails!? That's the discounted price?!

I got my nails done 2 days before I left for Orlando. I grew my nails out because I didn't want to deal with the hassle and sometimes gross look of acrylic. I brushed a clear top coat each night, and it lasted until after the wedding.
