You have to show ID here to by Draino. Not sure if its used in drugs, bombs, or what. Never been IDed for nail polish remover!
There is no law that you have to show ID to buy nail polish remover (or Drano, or many of the other things that stores like to make it "store policy" to ID for). I take my business elsewhere and inform the manager why. Will that change the store's policy? No. But I'd like them to know that they are losing customers because of it.
CVS/Pharmacy issued a statement that reads:
Because acetone is an ingredient used in the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine, we recently implemented a policy that a valid ID must be presented to purchase acetone-containing products such as nail polish remover. Our policy also limits the sale of these products in conjunction with other methamphetamine precursors and is based on various regulations requiring retailers to record sales of acetone.
So do people who produce methamphetamine not have a valid ID? Some random person comes in, uses their ID and gets it. How does that stop them from using it however they want? Not sure what the ID part is supposed to accomplish.

It is a LAW here for drugs with pseudoephredrine here in my town. You have to have a prescription to buy it.
CVS has adopted this store policy recently for the nail polish. Here is a link and a quote.

Having seen first hand what crystal meth will do to a person and a family, personally, I am all far them fighting it in any way possible. Lives ruined, families torn to shreds, dh had a co-worker that was burned to death when the lab blew up; its a horrible, horrible drug.
It might not do much, but anything that helps is worth the extra trouble.
When did this happenNow you need to show ID at CVS to buy it, and your limited to 2 bottles. Those hooligans must be making dope with it!what will thy think of next?
People are huffing it. Same reason some places make you show ID for canned air to clean a computer with.
I'm surprised they don't card for white-out. Kids have been huffing that since I was in junior high.

Yes, there is a LAW about drugs with pseudoephedrine in them. They are kept behind the counter and you must show ID to buy them and there is a limit of how many you can buy in a given time. You do NOT need a prescription to buy a box of pseudoephedrine or Tylenol Cold/Allergy/Sinus that contains pseudoephedrine, you only need to show ID and have your purchase recorded. While currently not working as one, I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician. However, nowhere in my post did I mention pseudoephedrine so I'm not sure why you are jumping on me like this.
As far as the nail polish remover goes, it's a STORE POLICY. It is NOT a law. I will take my business elsewhere.
It is a LAW here in MISSOURI where I live. It is a LAW that you have to get a presciption to buy anything with pseudoephedrine.
I am "jumping on you" because you are misinformed.
