That just stinks. I'm having visions of nail polish remover behind counters like they did with Sudafed. Ugghhh!!!!

Fortunately here, they haven't done that yet. I just purchased some remover about a month ago, and from CVS too.

People are huffing it. Same reason some places make you show ID for canned air to clean a computer with.

I'm surprised they don't card for white-out. Kids have been huffing that since I was in junior high.

The really strong drain remover is actual acid too. DH used it once and you could hear and smell it burning the hair in the pipes.

I take my business elsewhere and inform the manager why. Will that change the store's policy? No. But I'd like them to know that they are losing customers because of it.

It is a LAW here for drugs with pseudoephredrine here in my town. You have to have a prescription to buy it.

Well it doesn't stop them but usually there is a log you have to sign. I guess to kind of keep track of people buying more than is really necessary.

Having seen first hand what crystal meth will do to a person and a family, personally, I am all far them fighting it in any way possible. Lives ruined, families torn to shreds, dh had a co-worker that was burned to death when the lab blew up; its a horrible, horrible drug.

It might not do much, but anything that helps is worth the extra trouble.

Yes, there is a LAW about drugs with pseudoephedrine in them. They are kept behind the counter and you must show ID to buy them and there is a limit of how many you can buy in a given time. You do NOT need a prescription to buy a box of pseudoephedrine or Tylenol Cold/Allergy/Sinus that contains pseudoephedrine, you only need to show ID and have your purchase recorded. While currently not working as one, I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician. However, nowhere in my post did I mention pseudoephedrine so I'm not sure why you are jumping on me like this.

As far as the nail polish remover goes, it's a STORE POLICY. It is NOT a law. I will take my business elsewhere.

My cousin is a crystal meth addict. So I, too, have seen first hand what that addiction does to a person and to a family. I agree, it is a horrible drug.

But I am NOT willing to show my ID to purchase a product that *could* be used to make crystal meth or some other drug unless it is a LAW (as it has become with pseudoephedrine). I buy acetone all the time; I'm one of those nail polish enthusiasts. "Store Policy" policing of legal items like this does not fly with me. But, to each their own.

I hope that the person or persons in your life who were affected by crystal meth were able to get help before it was too late. As I said, I too have seen first-hand what a meth addiction can do.

Boy, I'll have to stop at CVS on the way home and see if they ask me for ID. Shouldn't there be a law that if you're too old to even know what else nail polish remover can be used for, there's no sense for ID?

Really? I never mentioned pseudoephedrine to begin with and you jumped on me about the pseudoephedrine for reasons unknown to me. But, a quick Google search that landed me on a .gov website for the Missouri Department of Health disagrees with you.
