In theory, it should cost you the same amount of money to do the upgrade at either a Guest Relations loaction or a resort Lobby Concierge. In practice however, it may not.
It seems that a lot of CMs working in Lobby Concierge are unaware of how to handle a ticket that was bought in advance at a discount from a non-Disney source (
AAA, FL ticket wholesaler, etc).
The LC CMs are supposed to do a paperwork upgrade of the ticket to Disney's gate price before doing the actual upgrade. That means you would be paying only the price difference between the gate price of your original ticket and the gate price of the new, upgraded ticket. You would not be paying the difference that you saved by buying the ticket from a discounter.
But many LC CMs are either unaware of how to do this properly or just plain do it incorrectly. The result is that you would end up paying the price difference between both the gate prices and the amount of your discount on the original ticket purchase.
Guest Relations CMs seem to be much more consistent in doing the upgrade correctly.
But in your case Karla, it shouldn't be a problem for you since your tickets were purchased from Disney to begin with. If LC doesn't know how to handle those, then it's time to transfer them to the parking lot trams.
