I just purchased a package through AAA. 6 nights 6 days at WL with MYW+dining for 2 adults 2 kids (ages7&3) From what I am reading it seems like every person is entitled to 1 snack, 1counter service meal + drink&dessert, and 1 sit down meal ,1 appetizer ,1 entree, 1 drink + 1 dessert. That just seems like a ton of food in my opinion. Am I correct?? I'm just wondering if you pros had any suggestions or opinions on this? :confused3 Don't want to lose my girlish figure!! :rotfl2:

Sarah......proud mama to three :earsboy:

"Too much food" ?????

That is IMPOSSIBLE!!! :rotfl2:

But you are correct in what you get on the dining plan....ain't it sweet? :flower:

Disney might change the plan  I like getting my money's worth and then some. Shhhhhh!!!!! Don't say that aloud again. :rotfl: :goodvibes :goodvibes

With the dining plan, can you eat anywhere (within reason I know)? I had not thought about the dining plan add-on for my DH and I b/c it seems like too much food that we would not normally eat. Is it actually worth it for our 5 days?

Where are you guys getting the info.on this plan? I'v heard about it and thought it might be worth checking into.Appreciate it~ ;)

I think the dining plan is a good idea. It is a lot of food, but if you space out your meals then it can be just enough. When we went last year we would do two character meals a day, early lunch or late breakfast and then dinner around 6 or 7. Unfortunately, we did not realize that the counter service meals were the equivalent of a decent restaurant around our home town. With the meal plan it allows you to be flexible too. Maybe a dinner PS and then whatever park you are in you can grab some counter service. It is also nice too because you are not tied to eating at the same counter service place as a family either. I know within my family we like to eat different things. One of us can grab a table while the other two head to the counter service place of choice. Then the last person can go grab their food or someone else can grab it for them. You will work up an appetite at WDW, but make sure your meals are spaced and you aren't doing three a day. As for the snack, it is always nice to have the ability to grab a bottle of water or a fountain drink when you are really thirsty in the parks, but are not hungry enough for a meal. It also means you don't have to carry around water bottles and bulky backpacks. Not to mention at an extra $35 per person, this can't be beat, especially if you pick the right places you will get your money's worth or come out even.

With the dining option- can it be added to ONLY MYW tickets, or does it have to be used with room package as well? I want to order my tickets from disney, but have my ressies through AAA.

Who else sees it as a problem having the dining option linked to the # of nights you stay instead of days? We are going to be there for 8 days and 7 nights. Our plan only allows 7 options of each per person, not 8. What about the last day we are there? We arent leaving until 9:30pm. :(

Goofy Dad,

You could share a meal here and there, especially counter service. This way you would end up with extra meals on day 8. I agree it is somewhat silly to have meal linked to nights.

We leave midafternoon on day 8 and arrive late on day 1. Our meals will work out great do to this. Unfortunately, that is so not the case for many others. :(

I think the rationale is that very few travellers are there the entire day they check in AND the entire day they check out. We will be so I have figured out that by sharing a few meals throughout the week (easy for us to do since 1 of my dd's always likes to share and I never mind sharing either) we will have plenty of credits for the last day (character breakfast and an early counter service dinner before we hop the bus back to the airport)....if all else fails you can buy a couple of meals for less than an extra day of dining.

Sarah--If you don't mind me asking would you tell me what you paid for your package?? I am going in May with DH and 2 DD's (5 & 4) and am trying to figure the best way to go, I do have an AP so I thought with the package I had to buy tickets for everyone going to get the dining plan but now I think I had that confused?? Any help would be appreciated. By the way-- I do think that is a lot of food(and I love to eat) but really nice to not have to budget your food money!

Thanks--Michelle

Sounds like way too much food to me. I never understood how people eat at sit-down places so often while in Disney. The portions are huge, not to mention the cost. We maybe do 3 sit downs while there for a week. Maybe. Just my opinion

You can use 2 of the options to eat at HDDR or the Poly Luau and get the show included with you sit down meal.

Michelle...I booked my package through AAA. We are staying at the WL from 5/8 - 5/14 . So for 6nights/6days with resort, basic MYW & dining & insurance for 2 adults and 2 children (ages 7&3) we are paying approx. 2800.00. I chose the dinig package because it honestly seems to take out a lot of the hassle IMHO. HTH!!

Sarah :cheer2:

It will work well for us. We are staying 8 nights, and have 7 day tickets. This will allow us to eat the night we arrive and have breakfast the morning we leave. I can see how it wouldn't work for everyone, but in my case, it is helpful to have it tied to the nights.

Thanks Sarah-- That seems like a really good price, I think I need to research the package more. Right now we have a reservation at the Poly---but I need a code and a great tax refund :teeth: to be able to stay there. Pricing everything out seperately I keep coming up with approx. $4500(we are staying 7 nights). I do budget alot for food and my Dh's bar bill :sad2: , I don't like to worry about every charge we make. Thanks again for the head's up!

I have there for 5 nights and 6 days. We don't leave until 3 pm for the Airport. So I plan to save some meals if possible for Breakfast and Lunch that day. And of course grab two sodas for the ride to the Airport.

We are going to get the meal plan. Our daughters, will both be under 9, so it makes sense for us. We enjoys character meal, and eat at least 4 per trip

Yes, it does seem like a lot of food, however I look at it this way.

For our 8 days, we have always budgeted around $125.00/day for food, and usually don't order appetizer, and entree. Sometimes more, or less, but average is $125.00. The meal plan for us is $90.00, and incl. tax, and tip./day. Even if we don't always get all the food offered, we will still be saving $$. I plan on taking dessert with me, when possible, and eating it for breakfast the next morning.

Plus I like the idea of having it paid for before we go. It will be nice to not have to budget for food every day, at the parks.
