Hiya,

Firstly, thanks to all those who have responded to my recent queries :goodvibes

Originally we were planning to go for just 9nights and wanted to fly to International airport so we could use Disney's magical express (neither DFi or I drive).

Well that was working out around £450 each for the flights, and the hotel was only 100 more than that total lol.....

So, we've been looking into 14 nights and flying to Sanford (and just paying for transfers) and it means a considerable saving (enough to pay the extra nights in pop century)

So now my question is this... the two best prices are 648 total on a MyTravel/Airtours flight/plane and 516 on a TCD plane.....

Any thoughts on which would be better? I've read a few threads on here about TCD and it seems that some like em and some hate em LOL.

I assume the 516 isn't in the upgraded cabins so I will need to phone and find out what the xtra would be for that as DFi would really like more leg room.

But, yeah, basically, what experiences do the DISers have? We normally fly scheduled to international (us, united etc) so really have no idea!!

Best Wishes,
Gaspodé

hi

we have researched TCD alot.we have found that its gr8 when u travel with them and not so when they sub let the flight to air atlanta.the air atlanta aircraft are very old and inside very dated <no seat back tvs etc>.if you can afford the £99 supplement to travel on the sunshine upper deck this seems to be the worth the extra.we have pushed the boat out and are going first class which has a bigger seat pitch and extra luggage weight<40kg>pp.the saveings we mad have paid for us too stay in Akl for a week and castle doubletree for the second.

if you go on TCD website all the offers n info on flight upgrades are on there.they have now just introduced checkin at LBV WHICH FOR SANFORD AIRPORT IS A REAL HELP.

if you book early enough you can get good discounts on upgrades.we paid £175 for sunshine first but we booked 16 months in advance!!!.places are limited so if you do fly TCD my advice is book sooner rarther than later.

we will tell you of oure flight good or bad when we return

if you need any help with TCD just ask.i spent 5 months trwaling the boards researching TCd!!!

Well I have flown My Travel the last 4 times, and to be honest I have never ever had a bad flight with them, I am using them again this year, but the actual aircraft is a Monarch plane. If you are flying from London or Manchester you do tend to get the bigger aircraft that My Travel has to offer, flying from Cardiff last year we had the smaller aircraft and it was a bit cramped, I know they do premium upgrades from about £169 which is worth looking into.

Hi,
We flew TCD last sept. Flight out was fine, plane could have been cleaner but that's just a gripe of mine! Staff and food were ok, no seat back tv's so DS6 couldn't really see the one main screen on the end wall but he had Gameboy so was fairly happy. Flight back was a different story, very cramped seating, everyone around us complained. Plus delay at Sanford and fuel stop in Maine. Letter to TCD brought reply that it was due to hurricanes (Frances while we were there) and having to put on extra flights, etc.

I know loads of people who fly with them due to the cheap fares, and we would do so again with the prices low. Just lower your expectations and you may be surprised.

We're going with First choice this time, got a good price for a package with them.

did you ask tcd how much the cost is to fly with my travel/airtours? rather than with their airline, it may work out cheaper for you.

I thought airtours was just as good as Virgin. I have flown airtours to Orlando and Cancun. The upgrade was a lot cheaper than virgin.

The one thing I need is a direct non-stop flight with an airline that won't change the flight to stop off somewhere else. I have not flown TCD though so cannot compare.

Good luck and let us know what you choose.

*** Update ***

Thanks for all the advice and comments :)

After checking out reviews for both TCD and Airtours on reviewcentre.com as well we decided to take the plunge!

So phoned yesterday and booked with TCD. The price of 516 included pre-booking of seats together. They recommended we kept it that way or unlikely to sit together no matter how early we show up. Confirmed that we are on TCD branded flight.

I'll let you know how it goes in September :)
