I know Universal is more laid back than Disney, but do you think we should make reservations at Mythos? We typically have pretty good luck with walk-ups (there's just the 2 of us), but I didn't know how popular Mythos was. Can we make reservations at the front of the park like we can at Disney? Or do we have to go to the restaurant?

You can either make reservations that morning at the CityWalk kiosk in front of the theater or you can call ahead to Islands of Adventure reservations at (407)224-4012. You can also use www.Opentable.com if that's easier for you.

Metro- DUDE YOU ARE THE BOMB!!!!!! :worship:

I've been calling the number online for a week and nobody ever answers!! My family is going to be in town and they just can't process not needing a reservation. I figured I was going to have to go in person to get our party of 6 on the books.

And I have a confirmation email!!!! I propose Metro appreciation day!!

We had open table reservations at Mythos for last week and they worked perfectly.

We've been to Mythos twice in the past couple of months and did not have a reservation either time. Prior to our first time there, I called to get reservations and was told it was booked, but we were still able to get a table after about a 20 min wait. The next time we did have to wait a little longer (maybe 30 min), but still manageable.
If you know what time you want to eat, reservations couldn't hurt, but if you prefer some flexibility or no ressies are available, I think walking up would be fine.

I've walked up and been seated my last 3 out of 4 visits to Universal without any issues.

all but one time, i was a walk in.

the only time i had a ressie in advance was 10/09.

Thanks to the OP for asking the question. I needed this information as well!

Could someone point the way to an up-to-date menu for Mythos? The one on allears is 2 years old!

The pork loin at Mythos is no longer on the menu!!!! I was soooo disappointed!

I've eaten there a lot, never made one. Longest we waited was in July at a peak peak time, and the wait was still like only 15 minutes. I think with Harry Potter, it probably won't need ressies, everyone's trying to be in HP world. But I couldn't tell you about real recently, I would say if the day is light to moderate crowds, should be no problem, only if it was crazy scary jam packed then maybe.

I am debating what to do. I finally left a message on the US dinner reservation number asking for a reservation at Mythos. Someone called back and left a message saying we were in, but the message was cut short. I wish I had known I could do this on OpenTable; it would have been so much easier. What's with this reservation number that no one answers?

I just tried to book a table for 7 at 11:30 am on 3/20 thru OpenTable and got the message that no reservations were available within the nextt 8 weeks!

Very bummed as many people on the boards have suggested that advance reservations were not truly necessary at Universal.

Thanks for posting. It kicked me in the rear, and made me make plans and resies for our trip in April. I had my choice of times the day I picked (wk before Easter)

So sorry you couldn't get your resie. I think I might try to call the restaurant directly. I know here in Balto, some restaurants don't put all their tables on Open table. Good luck and have a great trip.:goodvibes

I tried your date with reservations for 4,5 and 6 people and it worked fine. It seems to be the ressie for 7 people that is the problem. Perhaps make the reservation for 6 people and then just add a chair when you get there.

We have eaten lunch there several times and have never had reservations. We try to eat before or after the normal busy times and it has worked great. Only a few minute wait.

I have had that happen to me on opentable in my home town. It is probably the number of people in your party causing the problem. Trust me...they are not totally booked for the next eight weeks. Try calling the restaurant directly or just stop in when you are at the park to make a reservation.

huh, didn't know that thanx!

just made a res for DS's this coming week, worried it might be busier than usual as it's spring break for many schools here & bike week.

btw, we were shut out last Oct (going to blame it on HP & the disney peeps who are used to making ADRs;)), 1st time ever nothing available on 2nd weekend as walkup.

Thanks for the tips - I initially called the restaurant directly but could not get through and did not want to leave a message. I selected the option to be transferred to central dining reservations. They weren't able to book a table for 7 either but the reservationist was very helpful and contacted the restaurant directly while I was on hold. She was able to get the reservation for me. Interesting to note that it seems that the res system at universal doesn't seem to be able to handle a larger group.

My first choice was dinner at 6:30 and second choice was lunch at 11:30, I wasn't sure if she tried both choices, but she came back with the lunch reservation. I might try again later to change it to dinner but at least I have something booked - I really want to try this restaurant!

mythos closes at 3:00 in the off seasons.
it will stay open on some seasons/dates up to early evening.

I can get an OpenTable reservation for fewer people in the evening and it is peak spring break so it is likely open for dinner too.
