Mystery Woman w/Teddy Bears at Grand Floridian Mystery Solved!!

Wait, hold up. Are there really people complaining about a little old lady giving bears out to children at WDW?

Sheesh.

Oh, and by the way, America's priviliged are the only kids at WDW. Ever heard of Make-a-Wish? I'm sure she's given many to sick children, who need a teddy bear's hugs just as much.

Only on the Dis. :/

Let's all take time to remember that doing a nice thing is doing a nice thing. We need more people like this woman to inspire others to do the same. One small gift can trigger you to want to "pay it forward" to the needy, you friends and family, even strangers. Why hate that?

Wait, hold up. Are you saying that there are 'needy' at the GF?

I have been mentioning the needy, less fortunate, homeless throughout this thread but they will not be walking through the lobby of the GF; hence my suggestion that Lynne take her teddies and visit a central Florida homeless shelter as she would make some youngsters and their parents amazingly happy. :thumbsup2

I simply can not imagine-in this economy-or at any time-to spend that much $$$ to sleep in a bed at a WDW resort.
Simple amazing
:scared1:

Well look at the bright side. It's six o clock Sunday morning and I'm already working to earn money.

From every dollar I make or better said Euro in my case 60 % goes to taxes. From that money many many homeless and needy are fed. Good thing.

Than we cross the ocean to spend a lot of Dollars in Disney and from that money Disney sends a lot to charity.
So in fact I'm feeding needy people with my overpriced room. Also no problem for us but to ask if we could go to shelters and hand out food is asking a little bit to much. Sorry but when I'm on vacation its all about fun fun fun in the sun.
On top of that we HAVE to pay the occasionally Dollars to charity organizations. I remember we had to pay ten dollar to get an entree ticket to Macy's at Naples. Yup we had to buy ten Dollars for entering a shop. I thought that was total out of order and with us many other Americans just walked away to spend there money elswere.

Only on the Dis you have so many police officers. I thought I've seen them all but now I know we also have the "no loitering from old ladies in the GF police and the you have to give to the needy police.:lmao:

You are kidding right when you think staying in the GF, you are feeding the needy. :headache:

No one called anyone "old" at all EXCEPT YOU! :sad2:

And that's fine, you have made it very clear that you don't feel like helping the needy EXCEPT that while you stay at the GF, you are giving to the needy. :headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:

I just find it very sad that while I mention the needy and helping the homeless and esp during the upcoming holidays, you find it all so funny.

Making the statement staying at the GF is your way of giving to the needy ... sad. :sad2:

I for one don't find it funny....but who are YOU to tell anyone when, where and how to donate to any charity?

I'm sorry but you really make me smile. You have turned a topic about talking to an old lady in the Gf into a moralizing topic where you lecture people about how to spend there money. :rotfl:
I'm really sorry I cant meet your high standards.
I'm sure the devil will have a special place for me in hell in the afterlife. When the Grim Reaper will arrive I know my ticket will say : department of the not needy friendly.

I have not told anyone; I have suggested that just maybe Lynne would like to put smiles on those less fortunate as well as any of you.

Seriously, it is one amazing feeling helping those in need.

Why does it seem so hypocritical to me that so many of you DISer's on this thread have all this compassion for Lynne but yet when I mention the needy you all are so "sick" of me talking about them. Just like Lynne, the needy aren't going anywhere. :sad1:

I was amazed that the Grand Floridian would cost that much. :confused3

Anyway, carry on...

I'm not sure how this thread about a nice lady got turned into a debate on YOUR charities:confused3 you have no clue as to what other people do or don't do and truthfully, it's none of your business:headache: why you feel it is your duty to come here and try to make people feel guilty for not wanting to be just like you, is beyond me:confused: if you are so concerned about how Lynn donates her time, then might I suggest that next time you go to Disney, you go to the GF and seek her out, and tell her youself how she could be much more useful at a shelter....I for one doubt that will help her remember the good times with the husband she has lost :sad1: but at this point we ALL know it will make YOU feel better.

WOW are you serious 60% of every dollar you make goes to taxes :scared1::scared1:!!!!

Wow!

We are moving to Florida in Jan and if we can't get jobs at WDW, DH and I plan to spend a lot of time there anyhow. We have discussed where our favorite "hang out" spots will be as we are avid people watchers. We even talked once about how the CMs will view us if our faces become too familiar to them!

I may find myself the topic of a similar thread soon. All I ask is please don't call me "old."

I wondered why this thread had such a resurrection lately. I see it has entered The Twilight Zone. :scared1:

I am dead serious. Last week some "real clever heads" showed us that the real figure is 84% whit "hidden" taxes.
So from every Euro we earn 84 Eurocent goes to the government.
Well so be it as we can't change it but I think that with that high percentage the government is also fully responsible for those that need help.

Maybe you saw Jurrasic park and me in it as I'm that old :lmao:
I was send working when I was fourteen and it was a full job. In the dark ages that was possible. :rotfl: Nothing wrong with that,no complains and my work was and is my hobby. The same goes for my hubbie.
I'm now almost sixtie and with that amount of working years on my back I think I have more than enough payed to society.
So all this help the needy and why are you sleeping in such a overpriced room makes me smile. We contributed to those that needed it without complaining and we still do but the money we spend on what so ever is earned whit hard labor, seven days a week and I know I'm very selfish but that money is spend the way we like.

BTW I'm also a very convinced follower of the believe that says:"give a man a fish and he will eat one day, give him a rod ,learn him how to fish and he will eat his whole life".

O tell us were you hang out and we could have a nice chat.:thumbsup2

Maybe you could also sit whit Lynn. The last time we saw here she had company from a lady that was crocheting. I don't know if this was a guest or another lonely soul.

Let me ask you all this one simple question: Would you go gallivanting around town talking to complete strangers you see along the way? I think most of us would answer "no."

This is why it is disturbing and disconcerting to me that people find Lynn as an attraction or "must see" while on vacation. She sits all alone minding her own business. I would love a plausible explanation as to why anyone would make it their mission to seek her out while on vacation.

I won't get into why she needs to find help (and yes, I do hold a masters degree in social work if you would like to question or challenge my credentials or level of education).

From my post, I am simply hoping that SOMEONE who knows her will heed my advice and take action.

A person suffering from an untreated mental illness is usually unable to cope with life's daily routines and demands. This is also why she cannot sustain any interpersonal relationships. Her behavior may be triggered by psychological trauma suffered as a result from the loss of her husband. It could also be environmental, and bringing her to the very place where she shared memories with her husband might only be enabling and flaming the illness. Although her illness cannot be prevented, it does require ongoing treatment.

As to her repetitive coping mechanisms- eccentric clothes, wig, makeup, nails, garbage bags filled with old bears, ritualized behavior she feels compelled to perform each day, etc. This is part of the illness, NOT part of the judgment.

May God bless each and every one of you who don't suffer from a mental illness.....over 22% of Americans are.

Sorry for such a long post. It is with sincere intentions that I had to elaborate on my concern.

Actually, YES, I do talk to complete strangers when I go "gallivanting" around town. :lmao: It's a simple pleasure of life, and obviously one you have no knowledge of. It makes me a better writer.

Some of my best conversations have been with the elderly.

Some lonely elderly people stay home and watch soaps all day. Others are more sociable and like to ride the bus to nowhere all day, so they can "talk to strangers" like me. Still others find the mall a nicer place to hang out - which is a good thing, as they tend to keep the teenagers (also hanging out in the mall) somewhat in line.

You have NO idea if this person's "mental illness" is treated or untreated. You have NO idea what the state of her interpersonal relationships might be. As someone with friends and family who have life-long mental illness, I find your assumptions about a stranger very disturbing - especially if you are a professional. You are seriously overstepping your bounds.

"Treated" does not mean cured. "Treated" does not mean looking like everyone else (no eccentric clothing allowed!). "Treated" does not mean locked up out of sight, either.

I actually know someone whose child was offered a bear by this lady. They politely said "no thank you". The mom said the bear was "unclean". Not sure exactly how. She didnt use dirty or filthy but did not want her daughter to have it.

I have seen Lynne but never spoken to her and never got close enough to see the bears.
While I do not think she is hurting anyone, I join the idea that she needs help.
