I am trying to make a few extra dollars working from home. Has anyone ever done mystery shopping? Any good companies? What types of stores do you have to shop? Just curious if these are legit.

I have done it a few times, but you won't get rich and to be honest, it really more trouble then its worth most times. Most places don't pay you, you just get free dinners and things. Try violation.com. They have some sites you can sign up with.

I did it, years ago. It was fun, but I love to shop anyway. I'd get a $50 check in the mail every so often, and free dinners out. I didn't have the time to devote to it after I had kids, so I stopped doing it, but wouldn't mind taking it up again in the near future.

No longer, though. I still get emails for shops but found it just wasn't worth the time .

My boss' wife just retired and she is doing it. She doesn't really get much money though, just free stuff. However she is doing one for Denny's this weekend. They will be giving her a free breakfast and then also give her $10. Of course, she doesn't want to go alone so her DH is going with her (there goes the extra $10).

Hey, powellrj -- "violation.com" is a list of porn sites, and violations.com describes traffic violations.

DW was a mystery shopper at a CD store last year. She would go in every two weeks, browse around, and sometimes buy something. She would then send in a receipt(for which she was partially reimbursed) and fill out a sheet to report on the promptness and helpfulness of the staff, whether they pitched her on their current "deal" or "sale".

I have not had a chance to do a shop yet but here is a site I found helpful. http://frost.bbboy.net/ourlittlesecret

It is a message board with comments about diiferent places. Never pay to become a shopper though. There is a site that you could pay for to get a certification though. SOme places like to see that before they will use you. There can be alot asked of you for a little reimbursment. I learned alot from reading the messages at our little secret. Good luck.
:)

It's volition.com

And I did 2 bank shops, made $25. It wasn't so bad.......

I do shopping for www.ssanet.com and also for second to none. ssanet gives me 60-75 a month...just a little extra money on top of my other two jobs.

I've been doing it for severalyears. Won't get rich but gives me a little extra play money. Live in a small city area so don't get alot of work. One is a local homeimprovemtn store once a month I walk around and get clerks to greet me and then have to ask three where something is and listen to two checkouts, takes about half an hour and pays 15.oo i do it on my lunch hour. Some are better thenothers. Do the post office and that pays 9.00 plus the cost of postge. I do it for fun

Thanks for putting the correct address, thats what I get for talking and typing at the sametime....sorry I got it wrong

I did sign up with volition.com a few months ago, but the only thing they ever have in my area is cell phone stores which only pay $12.50. There's only so many times you can go into the same cell phone store before the employees start thinking you're strange.
