Carrieberry said:Well im not going to get into a debate about it, as it has been beaten to death here on the boards of whether or not it is wrong, but the staff is pretty clear about how they feel about it. Also, it is hard to explain to kids why they cant even get in the que for quest because people are playing mule after mule. Hmm I guess that explains though how people keep winning the good prizes over and over again. When you mule like that you are ruining the "curve" so that it is impossible for those of us that have never had a tiki, or inferno for that matter, dont stand a chance.
Hi Carrieberry,
I'm not willing to debate either, I just stated my opinion, wrong or right. I do want to make it clear I was NOT muling when I got my time. I forgot to write the time down but I know it was greater than 12 minutes and I'm pretty sure it was less than 14 minutes. I don't know if that puts me on the winner list or not and really, I don't care. I just like solving puzzles. My point is, I don't have to use a mule to achieve a winning time in certain quests.
Here are some things that may help you explain the unfairness of quests or any other games to children. I am one of those people who always ruined the curve in school. There's nothing like getting a 100 when everyone else gets a 70 to make you unpopular. Yes, I'm a nerd and I'm brilliant when it comes to solving puzzles. I took a bunch of psychological tests to help determine how I process information. The psychologist administering the tests was floored by how fast I solved a particular puzzle. I was the fastest he had ever seen, in years of testing. Most people simply give up on that puzzle. They just don't see the solution. I used to be able to mentally "fold cubes" faster than anyone I knew. I do puzzles in my spare time. My entire career was built around solving puzzles, I used to fix bugs in software. Clearly I have an advantage when it comes to solving certain types of puzzles so most likely, any quest I play is going to have an unfair result. That's why I feel it's okay for people to do a quest tmore than once if they don't believe they have made the winners list. I want to make it more fair for people who don't have this gift. Is it against the rules to play more than once? Yes but my opinion is that isn't fair to people who are slower at solving puzzles and just want a chance to win a prize. It's even more unfair that the times include disconnections from the game. I'm not about to order anyone to break the rules but I do want people to understand I don't mind if they play multiple times and possibly why I feel that way.
We all have different talents and gifts. Mine happen to include the ability to solve these host quests faster than most people. I know it's not fair but I'm still going to play host quests. I hope it helps you to know that I have found all of the mini-games within VMK to be challenging. I'm good at some of them now after a lot of playing time but I don't think I'll ever be good at some of them.
For anyone who is frustrated with the quests, I recommend you keep trying. I do believe you will get better with practice. You may never beat the people who are using mule after mule but at least you will have tried your best.
