Myrtle Beach, SC ???'s

My parents just came back from a week in MB. My mom loves it!! We are planning on going this time next year and meet them there. My brother went to college there and has a lot of golf connections (his major) so my DH is looking forward to going. DH used to have a annual MB golf trip every may with 'the guys' so he loves it too.

I believe my parents stayed in North MB or close. They actually rent a condo. It was $500 for the whole week, a one bedroom. A few years ago we rented a three bedroom for my brother's college graduation for $1100 for the whole week. My mom said that there are 3/4 bedrooms for $700-$900 a week. We stayed at a place called Cresent Shores that was pretty nice. Right on the beach, large living dinning room and big kitchen. My parents stayed at a place called Cresent Dunes (maybe) this time and didn't like it as much. It was fine, but they liked the Shores better.

Now I agree with the PP that said a cruise is the best. We are hoping to go again in October. It's been two years since our last and we are jonesing!!!

My inlaws have a condo in Surfside Beach which is just a few minutes from Myrtle Beach, everyone calls it Myrtle beach its so close. It's much quiter and cleaner in the Surfside Beac area from what we have seen. The only hotel that I have stayed at there is the Day's Inn but I would NOT recommend it.

We enjoy staying at the Dunes Village Resort. They completely remodeled during 2006-2007. My in-laws just returned from there on friday and said it was wonderful. They have really clean rooms, indoor & outdoor pools, a lazy river and a kids water/play area. They also have an onsight restaurant. The beach front is really wide and if you are facing the ocean, to your right is private homes, so your beachfront is less crowded. We love it.:thumbsup2

My family love bay view resort. I think the website is: bayviewresort.com

We also love this condo rental place: myrtlebeachcondorentals.com

i am thinking of planning a trip here next year. i have a friend that is going there the end of august.

we are staying at the Embassy Suites next month, we tried to get the kingston plantation but they were booked. I tell you the selling point for us was the free breakfast, manager's reception, and the mega waterpark for our kiddies if they get bored of the beach. We usually do Ocean City, MD but we decided it was time to switch it up so we decided on MB. Good luck in your search.

I've read that there is a brand new Marriott resort hotel and it looks beautiful. I'm sure it's very pricey, not sure what budget you want for accomodations, but check it out if it is something you may be interested in!
Have a wonderful time! We love Myrtle Beach! :)

We go to MB yearly. We stayed here in April,(but we are Marriott people) it was beautiful great pools, great water slide, great service, we've also stayed at a great hotel at the far end of the beach, has purple lights that shin on the building at night, and they have absolutely wonderful outdoor facilities, including a lazy river, etc and all their rooms are ocean front, but I can't think of the name....sorry.

Barefoot landing is nice, but I think Broadway at the Beach is much better.

Just came back from the Embassy. We love it there. We have friends who have a place in Kingston so we have been to the pool often but never stayed at the hotel. Our stay was free with out hilton points. A whole week for free!! I have always loved Embassy for the points you mentioned. The free breakfast is very nice. Breakfast was served from 6:30-10:00 but you need to be ther by 9:30. You can order pancakes or an omelet by finding a waitress. The Manger's reception is very nice as well. It is from 5:30-7:30 and be warned if you want a drink before 7:30 get in line around 7:20 otherwise they might call a person in line to be the last one served for free. You need to always have your room card with you to show for breakfast and HH. At times we were not asked for it but most of the time we were. You can also charge to your room.

Dunes Village Resort is new. They only opened last year with a new tower this year opened. Someone mentioned it was refurbed but it is new. It is nice but not as luxuzy as Embassy or the Hilton Brand Hotels. I have stayed at both and enjoyed both.

Our friends stayed at Holiday Inn at Broadway on the Beach. They liked it.

If you are interested in food try Shuckers at Broadway. They serve the local crowd more than the tourist which makes it nicer. Amy is great. She helped us. They are very reasonable in price and while it is part of Celebration Square it is still kid friendly with a child's menu. We always stop off there at least once but this time the mussells during HH was outstanding so we stopped twice. 4 of us at with 2 pitchers of beer and soda for the kids during HH for $35 including tip. HH is from 4-7.

Also The Office Italian Pub is wonderful. It is located on Restaruant Row near the Galleria (Kroger). They have great food and once again serve more locals. We go for local joints because you get the true food and better prices.

We hit a lot of Happy Hours (HH) for the prices. Liberty and Tony Roma's at Broadway has a good HH. Wild Wing Cafe does at Barefoot.

We have stayed at alot of the hotels mentioned above as well.

As a SC native, I suggest looking at the Litchfield Beach/Pawley's Island area. It's about 20 - 25 minutes south of Myrtle, but it has very nice resorts and good restaurants. It's quieter, more family oriented (no teens cruising around or piling into one hotel room).

I'm willing to make the drive into Myrtle to see the very few things there that I want to experience (Broadway at the Beach, outlets, a few restaurants).

We stay at Litchfield Beach and Golf resort almost every year. Nice pools, lots of condos, but they built the Seaside Inn on property two or three years ago.

We stay here too:goodvibes and have stayed here since 2005. We used to stay in the heart of Myrtle at the Sportsman right next to the Landmark becuase they took small dogs and we hated to leave them. There was just too much rif raf going on with the fireworks and drunks, etc. so we made the move to Litchfield. It is a little bit of a drive, especially with traffic, but it is worth it. The lazy rivers and the atmosphere are wonderful.

that is funny you mention using points because that is exactly what we are doing. Nothing beats a week's worth of acommodations and breakfast for free!!! We are not really drinkers so we would probably just head down there for some juice or soda before dinner.

Thanks for the tips on the local food joints, we will be checking those out for sure. Any others you can recommend? Any Walmart/targets or grocery stores near by for us to pick up water and snacks?

We stayed at Grande Shores two years ago and had an ocean front room that was fabulous. Nothing like waking up with the sounds of the ocean coming in through the sliding glass door. It's in North Myrtle Beach, so out of the hustle and bustle of the wall to wall hotels on Ocean drive, which was what was appealing.

There's a Walmart about two miles up the road, near Barefoot Landing, with a whole shopping center attached to it. I kinda loved the fact you could buy alcohol in the grocery store, a big departure from here in Pennsylvania.

Since we live about 4 1/2 hours from Myrtle Beach, we visit about 3 or 4 times a year. I have stayed at different hotels, but my favorite is Holiday Sands North. I would suggest going to their website and ordering a *free* vacation guide that has all the hotels, activities, and restaurants. It's called Stay and Play guide.

We go to MB Yearly. I personally prefer South MB. There are the outlets and Broadway at the Beach. I'm not sure if it's still playing, but there was a Cirque-type show playing at the theatre there by Broadway. We love Landry's, Old Key West Grill and Margaritaville for dining. Lots of mini golf places (I like Captain Hook's). There is lots to do. You'll have a great time!!!

They have a special running called global something. It gave us enough points for 7 days. Saved 65,000 points which is one nights stay.

Yeah we went to Walmart too. You know the short cut to Walmart, don't you? When you come out of Kingston Plantation go right and stay on that road. It takes you to Walmart and Tangers.

I have a few other places I will pm you those.

Oh yeah best time to go to Walmart is before 8 am or around that time. If you go as soon as you get there you will deal with 100 times the people.

we are staying for 7 day, 6 night for 175K in points.

thanks for the info on the walmarts and stuff.

I am starting to pack now for our trip, it's our first time and I can't wait.

It also turns out that DH's company maybe going bankrupt so he started his vacation today and won't be back to work till Aug 14 so he can burn up his leave in case they do go belly up and can't pay him for his leave.

Theresa I hope you have a great time.

Myrtle Beach is a busy area but I have to say last week it was not as busy as it is normally.

You are on what is called Restaruant Row area. Not sure how you are coming into MB but you can take hwy 9 to 31 to 22 and that take North MB exit and you are there. You can come directly off and go across the intersection by Walmart and go straight there. Kingston Plantation will be on your left.

Oh you guys are going to have such a good time!!

Call them and ask them for a pool side room. We had one and it was the best!

Dang I am excited for you.
